I just couldn't get attached to Evie or Kick. There just wasn't much substance to either. Their getting back together was to quick considering the past they had.
Evie was either being a complete door mat or a complete diva. Kick was just angry. I wanted to see a real relationship between them, not just them screwing like teenage rabbits. (No one has that much sex in real life!).
I've read the reviews for Nitro and it looks promising.
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 1st in the Sydney Storm MC series and the main relationship ends in an HEA. The plot is continuous throughout the series. The MC members are all introduced, along with their interesting personalities. Kick is the character that gets his HEA. He is the MC member who will follow the prez’s instructions without question. His conscience never bothers him regarding his actions for the MC. This book describes some brutal scenes and doesn’t sugar coat what all Kick does.
>Evie is Kick’s best friend from childhood. After Kick joined the MC, a mutual friend talked Kick into breaking up with Evie in order to save her from that world. Evie’s world, however, was already dangerous. Her dad owed money to a dangerous loan shark. Kick decides he can’t leave Evie and goes after her with everything he’s got.
>The words Kick uses to win over Evie and to show her his devotion are swoon-worthy. Evie takes awhile to thaw towards Kick, but eventually takes him back. This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this story 5 stars. The characters are brutal and real.
But, nothing worthwhile comes easily, right?
This story is one that takes you on a roller coaster of emotions. These two are so passionate about everything, as well as protective of themselves. So much hurt has been thrown around that it's difficult to see past it and really understand how each of them has changed. When you add in being connected to a motorcycle club, things get really complicated.
What I loved about this story was the fact that nothing was simple. Not only do we get some great action, we also get some great feelings -- not just love or lust, but deeper feelings that stem from pasts that can't be controlled. This wasn't my favorite book in the series (yes, I waited to write a review until I read all of the series that was available ... weird, I know!), but it was a good introduction to the vibe that this series would carry.
If you love MC, romance, action, and some gut-wrenching feelings -- definitely a must read!
I think I wish that Evie had a little more backbone when it came to Kick, she basically accepted whatever he said or did as OK. Kick commits murder, ok, well, the person must have been a bad guy or deserved it. REALLY EVIE? I even felt some of the scenes between Kick and his mom were contrived.
I do plan to read the next book in the series because I like this author's work a lot, and I gave Storm 3 stars too, but thought each subsequent book in the series got better. I've read a lot of MC romances lately, so maybe I have MC romance burnout. I Look forward to reading about Nitro in the next book.
There are so many quotes in this book that I fell in love with. Too many to include in this review. While Kick is a hot alpha male - he also has a romantic side to him even though he doesn't think so. I am excited that Kick and Evie got their third chance at love. You can immediately tell they are meant for each other. They do have their ups and downs coming out on top at the end. It's great to meet the guys of the Sydney charter of Storm. After getting Evie's perspective on Nitro, I can't wait to read his story!
This was a very quick read for me. It took me approximately 4 hours - hunger pains made me stop to eat! I couldn't put this book down at all. All of her books affect me that way. Nina keeps getting better and better. There isn't a novel by Nina that I wouldn't recommend. Pick up the Storm MC series, Book 1 of the Crave series, Destined Havoc Book 1 of the Havoc series, or Book 1 of the Sydney Storm MC series. You won't regret it! Did you know you could follow Nina on Spotify with the Storm MC playlists?
