The dimensions listed are not accurate in any meaningful form: the 4.88" is (roughly) the width of the handle, and the 3.2" H is from the top of the rubber to the edge of the mount when laid flat.
There's about 1.5" of clearance in the handle, but it's just a bit shy if you're planning to thread 2x4s through it. The hard rubber grip does not rotate, so shaving a bit off the inner side of the rubber might be easier than trimming down the wood.
The mounting plate is 5.5" x 1-5/8" and 10-24 bolts fit nicely in the 5 mounting holes. The handle does NOT swing up to exactly 90 degrees, it's a bit less, so if you're planning to use this as a top handle, just keep that in mind.
The mounting plate is about 0.1" thick. Drilling out the single rivet and replacing it with another mounting bolt/screw will definitely add some strength, but may not be worth the effort to wrangle with the spring.
Overall, this is a great handle. it's really beefy and fairly well made. Seems sturdy enough to be abused a lot without failing. Just be aware that the dimensions as listed on the product page are not accurate.
