BUYER BEWARE!!! I purchased this iron on 3/26/2017, received it on 3/28/2017. I am a quilter and I only use it for that purpose. I keep the sole plate very clean and treat it like precious gold! I LOVED it when I first tried it, it never leaked or spit water at any time. The heat setting was perfect, I had absolutely NO complaints.
But wait, there is more........Today, exactly 104 days after purchase, I was using it in the *** setting with #5 steam turned on. I also keep the Auto Shut Off Bypass turned on. If I happen to turn away from the iron for more than 30 seconds I discontinue the steam by pressing #5 steam button and turning it off. I had just done all of the above, I think maybe 2 minutes had gone by, I heard several beeps from the Iron, (very unusual) turned to look at it, both steam icons were lit up and blinking and all of a sudden smoke came from the 4th and 5th (from the top) center holes on the sole plate. I do not mean Steam, I mean smoke and there was a smell similar to something electrical burning. I felt like it was going to catch on fire so I turned the iron off immediately. Now, when I turn the cooled iron back on and it heats up, even tho the steam icons do light up, there is NO STEAM WHAT-SO-EVER.
I purchased this product thru Amazon. I cannot return it to them. At this time, I feel the only thing I can do is write this review and urge everyone that reads it, BE VERY CAREFUL. This is a lot of money to spend for 3 1/2 months of use. I have also read (so wished I had done this before purchase) several reviews where this same thing has happened to others.
I WILL NEVER PURCHASE A "RELIABLE" PRODUCT sold by anyone, at anytime in the future. If I could write this review and give this company -0- ZERO Stars, I would. It's back to good old Rowenta Irons for me!
