Top customer reviews
I must admit that Mary Lu is an exceptional writer. She makes the story come alive so vividly, you feel like you're right there with the characters! Sometimes the suspense is unbearably long and the issue should have been resolved five chapters ago, but you're too caught up with the story and action to skip. The resolution in the end never disappoints. She has the ability to connect you so well with the characters, no wonder I feel so disappointed with captain Merrick in The Reliance. Still look forward to reading The Ransom though.
The capture of Charlisse, she tries to help another lady, Isabel, escape from Kent, while she is struggling to face Captain Merrick when she discovers what he has been up to. Captain Merrick finally realizing being disgusted with his old way, repents, and struggles to get back on the right track, with shocking news about Charlisse still being alive. As in the in "The Redemption" see how the title, "The Reliance", plays out through this second novel to the "Legacy of the King's Pirate". Watch how Charlisse's faith grows, where she can only rely on the Lord, and Captain Merrick being dependent on the Lord and leave it in His hands. "The Reliance" has truly been a hard book to set aside, where I want to know how things are going to turn out in the end. Definitely going to read this novel again!
Charlisse finds herself in the clutches of the revengeful pirate, Kent. She must escape and find her husband soon. Merrick and Charlisse battle pirates, Satan's mind traps, and the doubts in their own hearts to keep their faith and find one another.
I would highly recommend this book to ANYONE looking for an exciting read :)
I don't recall where or how I first picked up MaryLu Tyndall's books, but it was love at first read. These novels, her first series, introduced me to Christian pirates and that was it, I was hooked (pardon the horrible pun?). Her strong writing makes the sea come alive, really brings the reader into life on a tall ship, and makes for a quick, can't-it-put-it-down read!
Why I Recommend This Series
The romance is artfully done, the plot twists so much that sometimes I have to stop reading and process (Whoa, I did *not* see that coming!) and trust me, that's a great thing to happen when I'm reading! Also, the inspirational message is just that, inspirational. I'd characterize all of MaryLu Tyndall's books as riveting, but The Legacy of the King's Pirates series remains my absolute favorite of hers.
She is one of my favorite authors and a godly woman. Don't miss this book.
