I was surprised by this container. I expected it to store water, which is all I needed it to do, but many of the reviews had me nervous to purchase them. I am glad I listened to the majority of reviews that praised this product. I am very happy that I purchased this container.

I didn't know, by the product image, that it had a pourable/controllable spout. I knew it had the vent and the cap. So I was pleased to find the spout under the cap, and that it was better quality than the reviews for the add-on/replacement spout had me believe. I figured it was so well priced that the spout was sold separately -- I was wrong.

Some reviews mentioned that the container is thin. I wouldn't say that is the case here. The container is sturdy and the plastic is plenty thick. It's not going to tear like a garbage bag, and it isn't going to stop a bullet, but it is thick enough to hold up well. When filling, I often have a hard time telling how full it is without direct sunlight on the container -- to view the water level. You can dent/damage the container with some force, but you'd have to try.

I did notice that the replacement spout I bought, not knowing it came with the spout when I purchased it, had a rubber vent stopper with the vent cap. I am using the container as it was originally and haven't tried the replacement rubber stopper and vent cap. The container as is works great, so I just keep the replacement as a back-up. I've read in some reviews that the spout is prone to breaking, but it really seems pretty sturdy. Again, I think you'd have to be pretty rough with it to break it.

My favorite feature is that these are stackable. I liked the first one so much that I bought another one today, and decided to write this review. I'll probably get a couple more later -- and stack them.

I use them to store water for indoor gardening. I could easily see these used for many other uses like: camping, emergency water, off-road vehicle coolant reserve, and more.

I would definitely recommend these containers to others.

I have a small homebuilt camper without a potable water tank in it. No problem when I have city water, because I have a hookup and a spigot. But, when I don't, I use this for my water supply, and for that it works great. Just set it on the counter next to my sink and make sure the spigot is over the basin, and it operates pretty much like a regular sink spigot. Except you have to have the vent open, but that's no big deal.

Cheaper and easier than installing a potable water tank, plus I can take it out when I don't need it...I'm happy.

For others who are stating that they have problems with leaks around the spigot, in my case, a mighty effort tightening the cap ended that problem.

EDIT: I did have an issue, but I was using this far outside the parameters for which it was intended.

I decided to make a gravity feed water system for my homebuilt camper. This would save space and allow me running water when I was "off the grid". I got a 3/4" male MIP to 3/4 barbed fitting and replaced the spigot with this. I ran this into a length of 3/4" clear vinyl tube. This i ran inside my camper to the sink to a 3/4" barbed to 3/4" MIP female fitting, into which I screwed the spigot for the water tank.

Then, I threw the Aquatainer up on the roof of my camper.

It worked perfectly. I had a working sink in my camper that I could use anywhere. I ran several tanks through it just to see how it worked.

For some reason, on the last one, I forgot to open the vent. The tank collapsed. One of the corners creased badly and now it has pinhole leaks. I'm spraying several coats of paint there to see if I can fix it, but barring that, it might just need replaced.

I'm sure they didn't intend for the Aquatainer to withstand a 5 foot drop and the resulting suction/air pressure. Totally my fault. Up until that moment, the Aquatainer worked just fine.

Good Container, May Arrive Flawed

I got the same one at a big box store for a few dollars more. It's a great container for water storage. Be sure to wash it out before filling and water should store for a long time if kept in a cool, dry, dark place. I'm using chlorinated tap water from town, not sure if that's better or not. A couple drawbacks on the one I got from here... 1. The cap is harder to screw on than the one I got at the store. As if the threads are slightly off. It still doesn't leak, however... 2. There's a small dent on the top corner, I assume from shipping as the box it comes in is a perfect fit, so there's no protection. Purely cosmetic, and it's plastic, not expecting it to be bubble wrapped... All in all, it's a few $ less here but may come with a small flaw or two than if you got to choose the one you wanted at the store. To me, I'm still happy with the purchase and have 2 more coming.

Product is decent and does what it's supposed to do, the built in spigot is a great idea.

The only caution is this - although these are stackable, do NOT stack more than 2 high when full of water!!! After a varying amount of time (couple hours) the bottom one will buckle and they'll crash to the floor. Just something to be aware of.

This is a sturdy container that is inexpensive, robust and practical. I’ve had one for several years that I use to take City water to my rustic off-grid cabin and it’s worked great for this purpose.

I like the way the spout works; you unscrew it and thread it on the inside of the cap when being transported so it’s out of the way and protected. Quite clever.

I purchased 3 more recently on Amazon so I have enough water (total 4 cubic feet of water) to fill the tank in my rustic cabin for washing dishes and showers.

A good buy in my opinion.

I have used these Reliance aqua containers for years. Left the last extra large capacity one with my kids for emergencies. I ordered the 7 gallon for myself, living in a highrise and water being turned off for plumbing can be a reality. Delighted when it came in, good size for back-up ...

EXCEPT - I decided to order a second one and the price has gone up over 100% in 2 weeks? And the title says "7 Gallons" but upon opening the page, the page says 4 gallon ... what is going on Reliance? If this is a typo I will amend my review accordingly ...

Reliance Aqua Tainer 26 Liter

Ich habe mir den 26 Liter Aqua Tainer gekauft um Wasser über einen längeren Zeitraum einzulagern. Dafür ist die quadratische Grundfläche und das Stapelsystem des Kanisters ausgesprochen praktisch. Die gestapelten Kanister sitzen fest aufeinander, so das man auch mal dagegen kommen kann ohne das der obere gleich herunter fällt. Die BPA freie Ausführung lässt mich hoffen dass das Wasser nach einem längeren Zeitraum nicht nach Kunststoff schmeckt. Bei anderen Produkten aus BPA freiem Kunststoff die ich einsetze ist jedenfalls kein Kunststoffgeschmack dabei. Die große Einfüllöffnung ist optimal um den Kanister zu befüllen. In dem großen Deckel befindet sich auch der schraubbare Hahn zum leichten entleeren des Kanisters. Auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite befindet sich eine kleinere Öffnung mit Schraubverschluss um den Kanister die nötige Luft zu geben wenn er durch den Hahn entleert wird. Für diejenigen die Wasser stationär einlagern möchten, ist er optimal geeignet.

Nachtrag 25.04.2018: Ich muss leider einen Stern wieder abziehen. Ich habe zwei volle 26l Kanister übereinander längere Zeit stehen lassen. Der unter ist jetzt verformt. Leider doch nicht so gut zum stapeln.
