About the Author
David Rodgers received his Masters of Science in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport, one of the nation’s foremost regionally accredited universities focused on natural health. Prior to and concurrent with his degree program, David spent a large portion of ten years researching, analyzing, and synthesizing texts and research journals dealing with the effects that nutrition, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids, probiotics, phytochemicals, herbs, exercise, and lifestyle measures have on people’s health. Upon finding all of the above measures have profound effects on the body and specifically chronic disease, he decided to formalize his education and start a clinic known as the Nutrient Balance Center. In addition to natural hair loss and hair growth remedies, David specializes in helping people with Chronic Lyme Disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, lupus, and multiple sclerosis using all natural dietary, supplemental, and lifestyle measures. Side note: I had some questions about the different remedies and was able to email the author directly (email is in the book). He was very prompt with his replies and always gave me good advice.
The key thing to remember here is that no one therapy will make your hair loss stop/regrow (unless you have a serious deficiency or health issue). It is a combination of all or some of the therapies that will give you the results you want. These things also take time. Some of the therapies you may notice sooner rather than later, but a lot of them take a month or two to really notice. For instance, I take biosil for the silica drops. That takes an average of almost three months to notice. However, one of the topical shampoos he suggests, I have noticed an initial change in hair health/thickness. Hopefully over time this will increase and make my hair thick.
The only minor downfall that this book has in my opinion is that one or two of the therapies seem to be "thrown in" for the possibility that it may work. Although there aren't many testimonies, scientific evidence, or author experience that would merit putting it in the book. Even the author admits that at this time, the therapy isn't really the best initial option.
That said, I still give this five stars because most of the other therapies should work. Also, a lot of the supplements he suggests have other very positive health effects aside from hair health. If you stick with a plan for a long time, you should not only have healthy hair, but an overall healthy life.
Too long; didn't read: BUY THIS BOOK! Don't buy Rogaine or Propecia. This book gives you key information on how to tackle hair loss and underlying health issues that may be causing it.
It's written and structured exactly the way I wanted it to be. It contains the proposal, what scientific evidence it has, what the web community thinks about it, what the author's direct experience with it. It even contains the specific products to use (in terms of brands) and the ones used in scientific study or what people were reporting. And of course the recommended dosage and any side effects/contra indication if there's any.
Obviously not all recommendations would work for everyone since hair loss is a complex problem and the actual cause might differ between one individual to the next.
But this book is excellent - I really don't get the other 1 star review.
Some people may argue that much of this information is available online if you dig around for it... Sure, that may be true, BUT I wanted to make sure the advice I was following was coming from a reliable source, and I'm under the impression that the author of this book is reliable... Folks, take it from me, the internet has just as much (if not more) bad advice out there as it has good advice. Get this book, if you don't want to take the gamble.
I've emailed the writer with a few additional questions I had, and he was awesome... Very nice guy, and you can tell that he cares a lot about the subject.
In the future, I'll pop back and update this with regards to whether or not any of the suggestions in this book helped me.
