I will read another book by this author due to the humane manner while telling a story without getting too graphic and without any explicit language. This was a very fast read, a great plot, enough twists and turns that keeps surprising the reader and yet, creates a sense that the good guys really do triumph in the end. Thank you for writing a great book about a very difficult subject!
I didn't know anything about the Cuban revolution prior to this book. It was interesting to learn about the resistance to Castro and what would happen to them when caught. The characters are strong and you root for them as you read their story. Atcho is almost bigger than life yet is just a man who lives his country and family.
The story also includes Soviet / KGB espionage and Reagan era storyline. It reads like an epic. I'm looking forward to Rasputin' s Legacy.
I highly recommend this book!!!! I hope Mr Jackson has many more novels to come!
Some of the story details didn't always make sense. It seemed at times not truly believable, and the ending was pretty easy to figure out in advance, but in all fairness to the author we have history as our guide.
I think the author has real promise and I see that his second book has very high ratings. I have it on Kindle and am definitely going to read it. I'm assuming that it will be helpful to have read this book first.

A grueling story of love loss and cruelty.
Thrown into the mix is the involvement of America - Bay of pigs and Russia -missile standown. All foisted upon a largely confused and innocent population paid buttons by their masters.
I would have preferred if the story told more about Fidel Castro and and his regime giving a more balanced view of events.
An engrossing story nevertheless
