James is hot, sexy and a fireman with a past that still haunts him. Being on the New York Fire Department has given him something to concentrate on, instead of being lonely. I commend Stacey for bringing two completely difficult backgrounds together with laughter, friendship and finally a love that the reader knows will last forever.
This was a short and sweet romance with some realistic and gritty twists and turns. If you're looking for a more "real life" romantic read, I would definitely check this set of books out.
Fabiana is a divorced mother of a special needs child who is just trying to make ends meet. Having once been a wonderful chef alongside her now ex-husband, she has had to adapt to being essentially shunned in the food industry. As a cooking instructor, she's found a way to continue sharing her love of cooking, which is exactly what gets her into a conversation with James. James was sent to the store to buy some ingredients as a bit of a hazing ritual. Turning to ask Fabiana some questions begins a flirty relationship right from the start.
These two are both wonderfully genuine characters that have some seriously epic lines. The romance, the "real-ness" and the great HEA make this a must-read to brighten your day. If you have any interest in the romance genre, please pick this one up.
James is a firefighter who meets cooking instructor, Fabiana. They hit it off instantly but I felt like their chemistry was a bit forced. I would have pegged them more as good friends than dating material. A lot of the story belonged to Fabiana, her past, her son, and her career while James got the short end; I would have loved to have read more about his life in and out of the firehouse. They went on a fire call, but there wasn’t a lot of elaboration on that part; whereas we got detailed cooking instructions from Fabiana at one point. Every part of the story where James interacted with Carter was so sweet, it’s easy to see why Fabiana fell for him as quickly as she did.
It did have a couple of errors in it that should have been an easy catch for a proofreader and some of the wording/verbiage had me pausing to think, “Do people really say stuff like that?” Overall, it’s a good quick read that does end with a cute Happily Ever After.
Sweet, quick read....3 1/2 stars. Starting over in the Big City, James and Fabiana try to build a relationship while putting their pasts behind and dealing with their daily lives. Well paced, good character development, interesting side story about Fabiana's son.
What a fun, light-hearted and truly enjoyable novella.
Stacy Wallace brought together a cast of wonderful characters and a great story line when she wrote "Cooking Up Love."
A unique blend of a chef and mother of an autistic child and a NYC firefighter who has no idea how to cook...and friends and family and coworkers. Put all that together and you have an eventful, mellow, attention keeping, truly enjoyable and sure to please any reader novella.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A quick enjoyable read.
A struggling single mother and cooking instructor meets a recently divorced firefighter in a grocery store. They quickly (almost too quickly) fall for each other but they had some obstacles keeping them apart.
The characters (even secondary ones) were well developed and the story flowed nicely. I was drawn in immediately and had to keep reading to find out if Fabiana and James would end up together. Overall it was a sweet love story.
