What an unbelievably beautiful and deeply touching story of discovering that opening your heart and your life to others is most definitely worth the risk. We think we know what’s best for us and immerse ourselves completely in our dreams. Even though that’s not a bad thing, it can leave us short sighted in the end. Wonderful surprises and unimaginable gifts can be waiting for us if we will only widen our gaze and take hold of them instead of letting them slip through our fingers. Opening our heart can be terrifying, but think of the boundless joy and love that can be waiting for us to take that first step in the unknown.
Daisy loves couldn’t ask for more in her life. She loves everything about her job, she has a small but devoted small circle of friends, and her father is her biggest supporter and encourager. However, even in her silver lining, there are some rips that are getting bigger and bigger. Her business is losing customers and fast. She is fighting this battle as hard as she can, but even she can’t fight what they call progress. Some things are just bigger than she is. Ben is working hard on his dream, and he is about to see it come true. While visiting his sister whom he loves dearly, she challenges him to do more with this life than just to fill it with work. She pushes him to look for love and open himself to the possibilities that he is allowing to pass him by with each day. Before he finishes his promise to try to his sister, Daisy enters his life, and completely turns his world upside down. He finally sees what he has been missing in her, and he isn’t about to waste any more time. Just as their hearts begin to meld together, they find that they are being torn apart.

Flowers play a huge role in Love Me, Love Me Not. It was really neat how the theme of flowers was woven into many aspects of the story - from the title of the book, Daisy's name, her store name, and even how the store plays such an important role in the story. Flowers are even woven into how Ben uses flowers and the messages with them to give his apology and propose his solution to Daisy. I loved how the two meet over a flower delivery to Ben's sister and how Ben and Daisy both know what they felt - it truly is love at first sight for Daisy and Ben. The author does a wonderful job of creating a love story - angst, heartbreak, and reunion in a short novella, including everything you find in a full-length novel in a small package. The book is well written with good balance of dialog and "mind speak", as I call it. There is a single intimacy scene but it is tastefully done and fits well into the overall flow of the story.

Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Daisy is the owner of a flower shop and one of the last holdouts fighting the sale of her shop to a developer. Ben is the real estate developer who is buying up all of the stores in her community to make room for a large condo development. They meet unexpectedly while Daisy is making a delivery of flowers to his sister. They are attracted to each other and go out for coffee to get better acquainted, never realizing they are on opposite sides of a very important issue. Follow their story and see how it unfolds to find out if they are destined to be together, or if their business dealings are what will always keep them apart. Elena Aitken has written a wonderful story about Ben, Daisy, and a community that means so much more than dollar signs to Daisy, but is Ben's chance to prove to his father that he is a successful businessman. I highly recommend this book.

As usual, Elena has written a great book again. I loved Daisy and Ben's story. There was so much tenderness between the two of them so quickly. It broke my heart that Daisy was going to lose her flower shop and that it would be by the man she had fallen in love with. What a hard position for both of them. This was another book I could not stop until I finished it. I am so hooked on anything Elena writes I can hardly wait to get my hands on them!

***** "Love Me, Love Me Not" by Elena Aitken.

"Love Me, Love Me Not," is one of several novels which are a part of the Remington series by Melissa Foster. After her five books in the series, there are an additional nine novellas written by different authors. This is one of those novellas.

Elena Aitken has written a wonderful and heartwarming novel about love at (almost) first sight; the value and importance of family; the meaning and importance of neighbors and fellow shop owners which make up a true community; and the many bonds that bring people together in so many different ways, how those bonds can be broken, and putting them back together is possible, especially if we look at things with a new and slightly or fully changed perspective.

The characters in this novel are easy to relate to and they truly feel as if they are your neighbor, best friend, parent, lover, or fellow shop owner, etc. The reader is immediately drawn in by these individuals and feels as if they are a part of this story throughout.

From the beginning, the reader is drawn into the novella by Daisy's predicament and shortly thereafter into the lives of Daisy and Ben from the time they meet and as they work through their individual and joint joys and dilemmas.

Lighthearted, warm, and truly enjoyable throughout, this novella addresses serious issues and life changing decisions as they pertain to each character. Continually remaining true to the personality and point of view of each character, the author is able to write a very human and relatable story that will appeal to readers young, not so young, and everyone In between.
