I always love a good cowboy / rodeo story and this one doesn't disappoint. Siena Remington makes more than a token appearance in this book; as the best friend of the heroine, Louise, she plays a prominent role as Louise travels to Texas. This book flows comfortably and is a quick read. I really enjoyed the Texas setting. I appreciated that Louise is willing to spend time with Brady even though she believes he'd wronged her as a child. After the number of years in New York, I somewhat expect Louise to be "snobby" about Texas. But Louise embraces Texas and her history, which makes her a refreshing character. I love Brady too. I love to see when a guy is "knocked off his feet" by a woman, or in Brady's case, knocked off his horse. I audibly gasped when his rodeo competition was cut short because Brady couldn't focus after seeing Louise. But he knows what he wants and he isn't afraid to pursue it. I like how he even considers how he can make things work in New York to be with Louise.

It's hard to tell you my favorite part of the story without giving away a spoiler, but I can just tell you that just when the reader believes the heroine has made the wrong decision, you hear a story that makes you smile. I didn't see it coming but love how the author weaves the story in and makes the reader believe the story is heading one direction when in reality it is headed the opposite. I love that literary construct and it really made the book for me.

There is no intimacy in this book but I didn't miss it. The hero and heroine were authentic and the lack of sex in the book was actually realistic considering the context and timeline of the story.

This was a fabulous read and Melissa Storm had me chuckling from Chapter One. Brady is a wonderful character with great comedic value. He is a rodeo rider and is a one for the ladies, but when he spies his high school sweetheart Louise 'Weezy' back in town he is determined to make up for his past mistakes. Louise is a lawyer in New York and is only back in town briefly to settle her late Aunts estate. Will they be able to come to terms with what happened in the past and move on...as friends, or maybe something more? You'll have to read it to find out. Siena Remington of Flames of Love appears in this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it.

The Remingtons: A Texas Kind of Love by Melissa Storm

Reviewed by (Isha Coleman) for Candid Book Reviews

I am new to author Melissa Storm and to Kindle Worlds format. For this reason I was not sure what to expect. A Texas Kind of Love proved to be just my type of story. Short, sweet and with a great deal of emotional depth. Ms. Storm created a story full of strong characters, life lessons and emotion all in one little package.

***** "A Texas Kind of Love" by Melissa Storm

"A Texas Kind of Love," is one of several novellas which are a part of the Remington series by Melissa Foster. After her initial five books in the series, there are an additional nine novellas written by nine different authors as part of the Kindle World Remington series. This is one of the nine.

Melissa Storm has written a fun, engaging, moving and happily ever after novella via "A Texas Kind of Love."

With strong female and male characters, who are well defined and ones the reader can relate to continuously and a strong plot line, this novella easily holds the reader's attention from beginning to end.

The novella was in-depth, but not overly written. It is crisp and refreshing in regard to the writing style used.
For example, this novella takes place in Texas, and the author describes the feel of the state and the small town very realistically and authentically. She brings out the true essence of life in Texas (vs New York) and how that life has changed and molded two of the three main characters lives in the past and present.

There is a richness to Melissa Storm's writing that makes this novella not just another romance with potential pitfalls that are eventually overcome. It attracts the reader from the beginning and has them reading straight through to the end without a break. It leaves the reader wanting more, yet comfortable with the ending. It is what makes this a great addition to the Kindle World Remington series and a definite must read.

Louise Stark and her friend Sienna Remington return to Louise's small home town in Texas to settle a late aunt's estate. Louise is reluctant to be back, she left during her high school years and is a hard working NYC lawyer fighting for a partnership at her firm and the time out is a major inconvenience.

On her first day back she runs into her high school sweetheart, Brady, the man she most certainly did not want to see again.

Brady is a bronco rider on the rodeo circuit and is never short of a woman by his side but when he sees his Louise (Weezy) at his home town rodeo he realises that she is the only woman for him and vows to win her back. There first meeting does not bode well for a reconciliation but Brady is determined.

After a drunken night at the local bar Sienna can see the attraction/desire between Louise and Brady is still there despite all the protestations to the contrary. Sienna gets Brady to drive a drunken Louise and herself back to their rental accommodation where the couple reconnect, although Louise does not remember much in the morning.

Brady is out to prove himself to Louise and behaves in a very gentlemanly manner and woos her with romantic dates and gestures. The shell that Louise has built round her heart to protect herself from Brady is gradually broken down but she is only in her home town for a short visit and does not see a future in the developing relationship, she has a life back in Manhattan after all.

Soon it's time for Louise and Sienna to fly back to their everyday life. What will become of Louise and Brady? Can they have a future when they live so far apart?

There is an unexpected twist in this story that I did not see coming but I loved it. I have to say that I was hooked from the start.
