ORIGINAL REVIEW: This may be a little lengthy, but I hope it's helpful to undecideds. I've wanted to get into droning for awhile & in research found this model mentioned in several articles as the best model of 2017 for beginners. And it seemed to have the best Amazon rating among beginner drones. I didn't want to go straight into an expensive model & have it end up sitting on a shelf. My review is from the angle of someone seriously wanting to learn drone flying & using this to get thru the learning curve & then upgrading to a $600-$1000 drone if I master the functions & enjoy it
I've had 2 hours of total flying time which equals about 16 battery cycles or 16 flying sessions & using most of the features on it except the return home feature. When it arrived, I was shocked at how light & flimsy it was & thought it would fall apart quickly. But as others have mentioned, that's a good thing. The plastic guard rings are very flexible, more so than the blades. They seem to be just right for absorbing the shock of a crash, but the blades are just stiff enough to maintain shape & not permanently kink or bend like real soft plastic. I've crash landed at least 30 times, mostly in field grass, with a few times on a gravel drive or in bushy scrub trees with no damage so far except a few minor scratches. It even got muddy on one wet morning crash, but cleaned up easily. This lightness allows for maximum battery efficiency, but it has a downside. A light breeze (7-9 mph) can pull the drone away from you, especially in the slower reacting beginner mode, which I used for the first 7 sessions. As a result, I lost the drone twice in tall scrub brush that was almost impenetrable. I literally watched it slip away & could not bring it back at about 50 ft in the air where the breeze is a little stronger than at ground level. Always remember the winds are faster when you get much above ground level.
The stability is not that great but probably as expected for this price range, without the stabilizing features of the more expensive ones. I shot video most of the flying time & it came out quite jerky. There's also an annoying horizontal wave in all the videos that looks like a heat wave, but it wasn't hot when shooting. In video playback, the noise of the motors & blades is horrendous, so audio is useless & you'll want to mute it. Also the camera lens is fixed, so there is no independent movement of the camera with a gimbal that would allow you to move the camera up/down or left/right. The videos from this drone are not of much use because of the very jerky motion & unsteadiness of the light drone in the breeze. I might be able to improve this a little, with more practice, but not enough to produce an enjoyable video I would want to show someone else. I'm sure the videos shown in their advertising were taken by a top notch drone flyer in a dead calm setting.
Being a newbie, I was disappointed in the short battery life of each flying session, about 7 minutes tops.
The toggle controls are very sensitive & I find it difficult to maintain a certain altitude. It wants to climb much higher with just a touch of the toggle or drop to the ground. The flip feature is very fast. If you aren't watching closely, you'll miss it.
The response from tilting left or right, forward or backward, can be immediate or very slow, depending on a difference of only 2-4 mph breeze. So you need to be in a wide open area so the response time won't cause you any trouble. You could shoot downwind 100 yards in 5 seconds, but take 30 seconds to get it back upwind.
The total travel distance away from you & altitude attainable is very limited compared to the more expensive models.
You'll want more than the 2 included batteries if you want to spend an hour or two flying, since the battery recharge time is lengthy.
Instruction manual was written by someone in China with a very poor grasp of English grammar, which makes some instructions difficult to understand.
OVERALL: It's an ok drone & probably one of the best for learning the basics of drone flying. But I'm disappointed in the video quality, instability, & short run time. I'm not thrilled with this drone, but I'm not completely dissatisfied with it either. I plan to continue honing my flying skills with this drone & eventually upgrade to a true quality drone with good video features, stability control, live video feed, & extended range capabilities.
Thank you USA Toyz!

I'm awaiting a replacement and will revise this review as it could have just been a bad unit that looked like it whad previously been used.
USAToyz are very responsive to email and as a seller I would use them again, so upgraded to 2 stars and will review when the replacement arrives.
its everything we wanted for a starter craft and if bombproof, its been crashed many many times and has a fair amount of battle scars AND even lost a rotor , arm and all, soldered it back on and a dab of glue.....good as new!
the only annoying thing was the trim settings as it would always wander in our closed (windless) warehouse but after the rotor losing crash we unplugged the camera unit and took it off (via the 4 screws) the craft and WHAT A DIFFERANCE!!! no more power issues, no more hitting the deck after cutting power at 12ft then giving full power again, and as a bonus... it doesn't need trimmed anymore! perfectly stable no spinning nothing!
do it do it do it!!!!
Only major downside is that it can't handle any sort of wind.
For the price, this is a great drone. It won't compete in terms of features / flight stability / range with the high-end models, but that's to be expected.
