My kids got me this for my birthday. I was very excited to put it together but took time to read the directions (I know not a typical man thing to do but I like to actually have an idea of what steps are required).

The directions were fairly well written but a few things needed more detailed illustrations. Fortunately there was a video online that you can view to see the assembly parts, so it ends up clarifying those points.

Having read the directions I started putting the fins in place. Top fin goes on the "X" marking the top fin position, right fin goes on the "X" marking the right fin position. Left fin goes on the ... oh there is a problem.

The right side markings were missing. Fortunately the graphics on the right and left side are essentially mirror images so I used landmarks from the graphics to align the fin and the right size hook for the tail fin. Then I went to mount the receiver/dive/ascend unit and the directions said that the placement was important and your elevation would affect the placement then provided a chart so you know where to place the unit.

Only all of the markings were missing so I went back to the video and watched several times on that part and tried to estimate the placement based on what the video showed. The first attempt didn't work well. With the "pilot fish" all the way forward the shark was flying level so I had no dive control. I had to carefully remove the tap and sticky pads and move it further forward.

I did get it working correctly and we had a lot of fun with it. Making the shark swim is kind of tricky. You have to make the tail flick left and right, but I picked up on the movement fast enough and was chasing the dog around in no time.

Had to return it given that the sliding motor mechanism was not working correctly with the remote. Too bad, it looked cool and sounded like a good idea. Maybe I had a bum unit. My son was quite bummed.

Take your time in putting this together. I skipped applying some of the included tape being in a hurry and the fins fell off. Now that Zombie Shark is properly taped he's doing great and flying all over the place. It takes a little time to construct but is well worth it.

Last Christmas I gave the regular version of this shark to my teenage nephew. It is clearly labeled to use indoors only. Of course, his dad, my brother the know-it-all, convinced him to take it outside and in 5 minutes it was off to freedom! The shark is so large it took an hour to disappear into the horizon. It was hilarious and the jokes and teasing never-ending. In fact all year long I have been posting shark sightings around the world on Facebook. It was the best 20-odd bucks I ever spent. I bought this Zombie Shark to give him this year with the message something like "Look your shark came home, a little worse for the wear!" I can't wait for Christmas.

After I spent $ on helium to fill it, I discovered that the shark did not work. If I return it, I would have to let the helium out. So we have a broken shark floating in our basement.

Set up is a pain and so was finding helium because we live in a small town. Basically the parts are good but the tape sucks so all the fins and motor fell off after about 2 uses. It was fun while it worked though
