(Used for LED cabinet lighting) I bought this to make it easy for my wife to turn on and off. I hot glued a magnet on the back and stuck it on the frig. It uses a RF signal, so you don't have to point and shoot, it can be anywhere in the kitchen. Some of the other reviews stated that theirs stopped working. I haven't had mine long enough to report that.

This is a pretty good (and rather inexpensive) controller for a single connected strand of LED strip lighting. About a month ago, I installed some LED strips atop some pass-through room dividers in my home office, hoping for both general indirect lighting whenever needed, as well as blue 'mood lighting' for evenings. The problem with many LED strip/tape lights is at full power they're way the heck too bright.

I put this little mini-remote on the blue LED strip because that's the one I tend to change the most, although it's really just on/off and brighter/dimmer that I need. It does the job, and at a small fraction of full power, the blue strip looks amazing.

The white strip I have on a separate controller...which speaks to why I deducted one star from this product, for design reasons only. I'm given to understand that the remote always works on the same frequency. If you buy another set, since they operate on the same frequency, either remote will turn on or off both controllers. I find myself wishing they had some kind of setting that let you choose between 3-4 channels, to make this more flexible, and so that one remote doesn't light up my whole house.

I can't speak for the product's long term reliability, but since other folks had reported failure after just a few days or two weeks, I figured I'd wait until about a month had gone by. Well, it has and mine is still working, having been used pretty much nightly for about 4-8 hours every night.

This setup did everything I wanted... for about 2 weeks. It was used off and on for a total of about 5 hours over a 2 week period and worked to my satisfaction. I attempted to turn it on the other night and it would not work at all. I disconnected it and plugged my LED lights directly into the power source and everything was fine. Changed the batteries in the remote, but it was unsuccessful. I'm in search for another dimmer, but I definitely won't be buying this again.

I bought this controller to replace the one that came with "LE® 12V Flexible LED Strip Lights Kit, LED Tape, Warm White, 300 Units 3528 LEDs, Non Waterproof, Light Strips,Pack of 16.4ft/5m." The original controller died after about a month. This replacement controller also died in about a month.

Originally I bought two LED kits at the same time and one works fine. All the features work. The one that died worked fine with a replacement controller but, as stated, it also quit working. Not sure if this strip has some flaw that causes the controllers to burn out but for the price it isn't worth returning. I can use the LED strips in other projects that don't need a controller but I really want one that works for permanent lighting under my kitchen cabinets.

Guess I'll keep looking.

* Update * I killed a third. (bought 2 originally then a replacement for a total of 3). I had LEDs running under my bed as a night light for the occasional mid-night run to the bathroom. I'm replacing my bedroom suite so I salvaged the LEDs for lamp projects and didn't need the controller anymore. Within a month this third controller died too.

As mentioned I need a controller to operate the lights under my kitchen cabinets. The controller is plugged into the same outlet with my microwave and is mounted on the wall behind the appliance. I'm theorizing that the microwave is killing the controllers but I don't know for sure. I can say it operated fine in the bedroom for 4-5 months without issue.

At this point I'm not going to purchase any more but instead use the HitLights Led Light Strip Dial Dimmer. I've got two that are working great for some bedside lamps I made and I just ordered 6 more.Read more ›

Ok, so this thing is super lame, but that's what makes it so awesome. I bought it specifically to be able to dim the lights in the bed of my truck when camping. The fact that I can throw a seizure inducing rave is just a bonus. Install was easy and the remote works great. I did notice one time that my lights came on "by themselves". I never figured out if someone got into my truck and pushed the button or if someone else in the neighborhood has the same remote or what, but it never happened again. I wound up installing a mechanical on/off switch before this guy in the circuit just to be sure and because I sometimes leave the truck sitting for long periods of time and I don't want this thing slowly draining my battery waiting for a remote "on" signal.

I've purchased 4 of these little controllers. 2 worked fine, one sort of works and one died. You'd think that with a track record like that, I'd ding them pretty hard. But, the things are so cheap. And the idea so useful, that it doesn't bother me. When one burned out right after arrival, I just ordered a replacement. These are so cheap it's not worth the effort to return a defective one. These co trollers are RF which means that you don't need line of sight for it to work. I put one inside a plastic sci-if model I was lighting and it worked great. Two more were used to control shelf lighting. You can tuck the controller behind a bookcase and it still works fine. I consider theses to be worth way more than the price that I paid and that's why I don't care if I get a dud now and then. But, please beware: if you don't have patience to deal with bad hardware, then skip this product. But, if you're patient and willing to wait on replacements these cant be beat for the price.
