Nice Printer, Needs simplified manual (shorter!), Helpful hints for assembly (things to look for)
So, the product itself is overall good. I chose to assemble for two reasons: Save money, Get familiar with my new 3D Printer. The manual is ridiculous! It needs A LOT shorter with less pictures. There is NO time to play the gummy bear game. The pictures need to be larger, so you don't have to go online to zoom in. I've been a machinist for over 30 years and I am very mechanically inclined. When I got to the bearings, which do not seem to be of the highest quality, they were fairly quiet and smooth while sliding them over the shafts. The problem is once you tighten things up and install the bed, it is not likely to be smooth any more. I actually assembled the printer on a precision granite plate and used a height gauge to ensure all the rails were within .002" of each other and used calipers to make sure the rails were the same distance apart... and it still did not slide smoothly. My solution was to barely tighten the bearing clamps just enough to hold them in place without being loose yet give them a little 'wiggle' room. This helped a lot. It would also be nice to have a simple (short!) single page of steps to help you quickly achieve successful printing. I ended up doing trial and error and watching some videos online. A beginners video of this exact model printer using the exact included filament would be nice to have walking you through your first test prints that are included on the SD card. There are a lot of videos out there but they are either different models, using different filament, or both... Kind of hard to troubleshoot when the conditions are different. From further research after I got the printer, The printer itself seems to have "old" designs and the programmers have been very successful in fixing a lot of the previous problems via software instead of hardware changes. I like the printer but my next one will likely be a different brand unless Prusa releases a brand-new revised printer with less 3D printed parts and a way to assemble more quickly and easier while retaining tighter tolerances between the bed, bearings, and rails. This would be worth paying more to me. My first few prints were good, however, when I cleaned with 99% alcohol very carefully, the prints started lifting. I ended up picking up some acetone and so far, it seems to be holding better. I'll likely be getting a non-smooth plate to put on while printing to help as well as an option other than the smooth one included. I have achieved some nice prints and I am sure I'll get a lot of quality use out of this printer for a long time. I don't regret my purchase as the final results with a lot of hard work assembling it made it function quite well and quietly.

      Great printer

      Lets start from the top.

      A. To anyone who bought this and complained about putting it together, just don't. This was a fun kit to build. It was like getting a leggo kit for a 12 year old and I giggled reading the instruction manual. Don't worry, I won't spoil the fun for anyone new buying but you definitely will smile.

      B. Probably the single most reliable printer I've ever owned. Scratch that... Definitely the most reliable printer I've ever owned. I've been using this for a month and done very little in the way of upgrades outside of a new nozzle and build plate. Only print fails I've had have been due to slicer/user errror issues. And even those were easy to fix once I figured out what I did wrong.

      C. Full metal hotend with a nozzle upgrade is *Chefs Kiss*. Can print most anything your heart desires and reliably too!

      D. Auto Bed levelling. Some people say its trash but they're wrong as can be. You can change the autobed levelling to 7 points which makes a huge array of points levelled by the PINDA sensor and honestly I've never had a base layer issue that wasn't caused by me. Just calibrate, change the offset to where it needs to be with the twist of a knob and BAM, calibrated for good.

      D. No it's not a BAMBU labs print speed but it does have a stealth mode which is super nice for those of us that have limited space and need this printer in a spot where people exist. It's way quieter than any other FDM printer I own cuz of a single switch in settings.

      E. Upgradeable. It's July 2023 which means prusa's MMU3 is about to drop and even if that weren't my next upgrade, I'd still be able to upgrade any other part of this printer with kits online. Why? Cuz I built it and the kits are easy to find.

      F. Just buy it.

Honestly I run a print farm with cheaper printers and end up spending so much time tinkering and fixing parts all day. I'd rather spend that time modeling or focusing on the business side instead of printers all the time. Everywhere you look everyone recommends these printers I've wanted to order them but couldn't really find it reasonable to wait 2-3 months for them. I finally noticed them here on Amazon and just thought it was another reseller so I hesitated. I ended up buying and contacting Prusa support through live chat and they assured me these are covered with their warranty and are directly sent to Amazon by them. I don't know about other listings but I know this one for sure is covered. I was able to register my printer serial number on the Prusa website. So if you ever have any problems as I saw a review here the guy said he had problems, you could get live support to help you fix it. It seems he attempted multiple things himself without actually getting the advice from Prusa.

The printer works great and I don't really have to sit there and watch it or be worried about it not finishing a job. Assembly took longer than expected for me and putting the nuts through the printed parts was overall the most tedious part. I think these printers are worth $700 but $900 + tax for you to also assemble is quite a lot. I think it's only reasonable for me because I run a business and the money I'll save will end up paying for the printers in the long run. The time wait of 3 days on Amazon as well opposed to 2-3 months is also a big plus for a business.

Overall I'd recommend this printer mostly for business. I think as a hobby printer it'll be nice but not worth the price on Amazon. I'd rather mess around with other printers and try out cool upgrades and mods if I'm doing it as a hobby.

Never had a 3D printer before, so if you're looking for a super technical review then I won't be able to help.

But... For a first time user, it really wasn't bad to build, about 10 hours in total. Instructions are good. Tools that come with it are not. Having the proper tools would have saved me a ton of time. Then after initial calibration... It's basically been running non-stop (Literally). Running just fine with PLA (Haven't tested other materials yet), overall no complaints. A few failed prints but I'm willing to bet that's more me not knowing the limits of a 3D printer than actual faults of the printer (Who knew you couldn't print plastic on thin air and expect it to stay there?)

The display is... Dated to say the least (Looks like a LCD display from 20 years ago) but that's not a big deal. And considering that's the biggest gripe I have with the printer... Very happy with it overall. Although the display is dated, Prusa's slicing software is not... And even for a complete novice like me it's really easy to use and tweak. And the auto bed leveling is so nice, did one calibration when setting it up and it's been printing fine without any tweaking ever since.

And the best part is... Down the line if part of the printer breaks... Most of it you can just 3D print, and Prusa will give you the gcode to do it. So you can literally have spares of every (plastic) part just sitting around in a box somewhere and it'd cost you next to nothing. And most of it... Is plastic.
