The only negative I can see is that the extension tightening handle (made of metal, which is good) on the main shaft is a little slippery if you have sweaty hands, but this can easily be fixed by taping a strip or two of gaffer tape over it.
As with any stand of this nature, you'll need to sandbag the tripod legs for stability if you have the boom arm fully extended with a heavy mic.
This is a well-made mic stand with quality material and parts, and is a very good buy for the money. Most other stands in this price range will have cheaper tighteners with plastic knobs that will wear out quicker. The T-bar tightening screw on this stand is a feature usually found in more expensive stands. This is the best quality stand I've seen at this price point.
The only drawback is that I play keyboards, and the boom is not heavy enough to support a microphone under long extension, as the stand tips forward. With the tripod base, I can’t put a weight on the stand to hold it down. I was able to adjust my configuration to make it work (hopefully, there’s always the chance that this would tip over live on stage!). If balance/weight/tipping is not a concern, this is a very good stand.
