The trilogy is really one book written in three parts, none of the books would stand alone. As an e-book reader, I find it particularly frustrating that an author calls one book, three books. Apparently, this is a common feature of fantasy series these days.
The story line is good, but the author gets bogged down in descriptions. If one character has just described the city they are approaching, repeating that description in the voice of another character does little to help the story.
I get this is fantasy, but if the dragon's clothes shift with them, why did Fidelity need to get spectacles for her dragon form? If she did need to have special spectacles made for her dragon form, "with lenses as big as a human head", and those spectacles don't shift to size between forms, "her spectacles slipping down her nose", where does she put the dragon spectacles when she shifts? That was just too much, and not really relevant to the story line, other than playing up the stereotypical librarian.
Like most books in this genre, there is quite a bit of violence.
The novels should maybe be sub-genre horror.
Even if you don't have chronic pain and you love fantasy and science fiction you will love this trilogy.

Although there is still much to enjoy, if you like me find dragons fascinating' by the time I was approaching halfway through this latest trilogy I began to feel disappointed. Yes the characters have depth and I could empathise with their conflicting emotions et al. The epic 'good versus evil' themes are all there once more but I eventually began to flag. Perhaps this was because I tackled the full trilogy rather than one book at a time? All I can say is that I found the everlasting battles were becoming so repetitive. So small a number of dragons fighting immense armies of the enemy, yet continually escaping with horrific injuries which once the dragons returned to human form seemed to be fairly minor injuries. How many more times could they win? No matter how injured the dragons were they found time for what I can only describe as lustful sex disguised as love. I found Gemini's sudden change from an evil destroyer and torturer to someone who loved in a frankly unbelievable way. It didn't ring true.I found myself
skimming pages more and more towards the latter part of the trilogy and very tired of the battle descriptions which all seemed to proceed and end in the same way. For example one dragon won a battle against a huge army! Hmmmm. How many times could evil escape justice?
Some of the horrendous torture scenes were bestial and most unpleasant to read about. One last comment - ' Too repetitive and in general over the top' He says he is planning more of the same. I am not so sure I will buy any new ones as I struggled to finish this one. I did so just to find out how things ended. The ending was really weird and for me beyond belief. Not the best of the series.
