Or will she be stymied by the never ending string henchmen and pawns? Who is this new American Inspector? Can he be trusted? Will he be a help or a hindrance?
Christian Locke has been at a loss with this case. It seems there is something going on that is more sinister than it appears. Who is this reporter Chastity? How is she somehow one step ahead of him at every turn? Can he trust her? What are her intentions? Who is the masked vigilante that he had had run ins with? How is the vigilante involved in these murders? How many more people will die before they find the culprit?
***This series is suitable for mature young adult through adult readers who enjoy Victorian horror, SciFi supernatural thrillers with plenty of intrigue, action, adventure and mystery along with a dash of romance while hunting monsters both natural and unnatural :)
The story takes bits from other stories and amalgamates them into a new fascinating story with a new heroine.
Not quite a work of "steampunk" fiction, it engages just enough of that steampunk vibe without going overboard, and THAT'S how I like it. Its part a truly fresh mystery, with touches of steampunk, paranormal fantasy and magic and just a TOUCH of the old west, which is part of what it makes it SO different, new and engaging. The mix is so seamless, it feels like a genre-bender - and that too makes it so intriguing and wonderful
Skye Knizley is truly an author to watch out for. I've not been disappointed in ANYTHING I've read from her so far, but this book? This is TRULY cool! Give it a try, you wont be disappointed!
