I have a five year old dishwasher, so, to my mind, basically new. Recently the racks began to rust in several places. One day I cut my hand on a rusty corner, and decided it was time to find a fix. I looked into buying new racks, and didn't want to put out over a hundred dollars just for some rust spots. I looked into Rerack, and other products along those lines. I'm not a rocket scientist. Also, I have small children in the house who tend to interrupt me in the middle of every project I attempt, and who I try to protect from noxious fumes. Enter this tape. It was the greatest $10 repair I have ever done. I was able to repair approximately 30 rust spots in about an hour's worth of time. It took me three different fix sessions, due to the interruptions of afore-mentioned kids, but that was no trouble at all. Each spot took so little time, that I could easily leave and come back when I needed to. The wrapping was tight and secure, and I only had to redo three spots that started to unwrap in the week following. This was three months ago, and I run this dishwasher every day. None of the tape has come undone since then. Aesthetically, Rerack would probably look better. I took pictures to show before and after, and you can see it looks like someone wrapped a bunch of tape on these joints when you look up close. However, from several feet away, it blends in quite nicely, and very few people besides me care what the inside of my dishwasher really looks like. It stopped any danger of cut hands, and any rust spots on my dishes. I am happy.
A word as to applying it. Because I was wrapping in and out of rack openings, I did find that it was easiest to cut off about 8 inches of the tape to use at a time. I would use that strip up on four to five spots, then start over with a new strip. For what I was doing, it was basically impossible to maneuver the entire roll of tape in and out. Hope this helps someone else.
