You simply cannot create any type of art without having resilience to criticism or rejection. It's an essential skill that will allow any artist to endure the struggles, hardships and setbacks that will occur during the creative process.
I'm particularly found of the books style which is a more refined and polished version of his witty, charming and sometimes scolding blog.
The one aspect of Resilience that resonates with me is the discussion of the inner critic. That is, by and far, the biggest challenge all creative people face. Our inner critic is how we internalize those rejections and criticisms. If our inner critic is stronger than our resilience then we will stall on our path to success. If we can manage our inner critic, then we build our resilience and creative endurance.
Luckily, Mark distills his vast knowledge of the creative mind into easy to read and even easier next steps to take. It's this learning then doing model that makes applying Mark's wisdom simple to do.
If you find yourself struggling to meet your creative goals, always pondering whether or not you will make it or just want to live a more rewarding creative life, then pick up resilience. It's the missing piece to building up your creative endurance.
I also get Mark's free Creative Pathfinder weekly course from his website and there's lots of tips in there for marketing etc. It's wonderful of his to make such valuable information available for such a little price &/or FREE!
This book is oriented to artists and people that are always facing criticism, so his recomendations works for any other less-pressed-entrepreneur.
I like the analogy between the two lions in the entrance and how criticism are waiting for us and how to we can encourage us to get across them and go further.
