How long it takes to charge? Not need to charge it at all ,Hti-301 works android system smartphone , so the power source is from your phone .

Can this camera work in a total darkness? Hti-Xintai Infrared Camera is used for detecting infrared radiation from object which won't be affect by the strength of any visible light. It performs in darkness as well as under sunshine.

Why the temperature I get from the camera is far below the real data it should be? Different material and same material with different surface may be different in IR emissivity. To adjust the IR emissivity according to the table in our manual is important so that you would be able to get the most accurate temperature results.

Why I can see 2 images not align with each other? When you are in IR-VL mode, the visible light image and infrared rays image are all on the monitor. You may need to calibrate the image while the detecting distance is changed. Please refer to the Image calibration instruction in the manual.

Can this model HT-301 detect electrical power lines or hot water pipe behind the walls? That's really depends on the scenario. Generally, you can't detect the object behind a barrel such as a wall that does not allow infrared rays going through. But in most of scenario we can indirectly ‘see’ the hot water pipe behind a wall as it heats up the wall and generate typical thermal distribution on the surface of a wall.

What is the farthest distance it can detect? The best test distance is 20cm-50cm which covers most of professional test scenario.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great thermal resolution. Not so much workmanship
By ₽яоdigч on June 15, 2022
If you ever owned or tried a consumer entry level thermal camera, it would most likely be one with 220x160 thermal sensor. It would probably show you a pixilated thermal representation of the object(s) in front of you, but you wouldn't quite make out what's what in the image. As a first time using a thermal camera you'd be impressed but you'd also quickly get frustrated with the lack of details. It would feel like watching color tv for the first time but through a blurry pair of glasses.
You then come across the next upgrade (with some few $$$ spent along the way): a camera with 320x240 thermal resolution and probably 9Hz refresh rate, and you'd be wow'ed! This is nice! I could now make out which one of my toes actually took the full blow from the corner of the table. It would feel like watching the same color tv but in standard resolution and witch choppy reception... Not quite great but better than what you had before. Then you'd wonder, what could be the next upgrade? Well...Welcome to this tiny Hti-Xintai 384x288 thermal resolution sensor with a comfortable 25Hz refresh rate. This is the next big thing in consumer grade thermal imaging. Of course you'd have to chip in close to $800 bucks for such luxury.
This camera is great. With the App, I would not say it is a killer combo but rather gets the job done, and done nicely. The resolution is comfortable for consumer level tasks (HVAC inspection, mechanic, electronic, electrical troubleshooting, etc...). The refresh rate is also at a comfortable level now that you can record meaningful videos. The camera (or actually the app) allows the same functions and color palettes you'd see on lower cameras. Not much of an improvement on that regard.
The downside with this camera and others of this form factor in my opinion is that they rely on a phone and therefore an app to process and display the thermal imagery. Some may find this a convenience, but I see it as a potential problem. Apps needs maintenance and upgrades to keep up with the fast evolving mobile industry, and I don't think these kinda apps have such support from the manufacturer or at least at same pace as the phones. So, one should remember, a camera like this without its app is basically a paper weight...well no so much weight but you get the idea. Secondly, this thing rely heavily on that tiny fragile USB-C connector, and you know what can go wrong with those! Just ask your 5 year old nephew what's up with his phone/tablet not charging anymore.
This camera doesn't help in this regard either as its USB-C connector is suboptimal, not robust, doesn't have that solid snap in action and actually feels loose and wobbly!! This the same connector that is supposed to hold the camera in place while gravity is working its magic!
One nice feature about the camera is the ability to adjust focus manually (Yeah, don't expect autofocus on such thing and at this price range or you risk to be laughed at).
The focus adjustment allows you to basically control focal distance between the camera and object being viewed. Something that was lacking from lower tier cameras and required parameters tweaking to simulate. However, the focus ring (at least on mine) feels so loose that it actually rattles if you shake the camera!
It does adjust focus fine but it is not smooth at all due to it being shakey and there seems no fix for that.
Overall this is a nice piece of tech that dropped the ball in the details. For the price I would've expected some acceptable level of quality and workmanship. I would've also liked seeing these specs offered as a standalone device instead of phone extension.
4 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great buy, minor issues
By SteveHallArchitecture on March 10, 2020
For the price (US $787), this is the best IR camera out there if you have Android. (Sorry, no iOS.) I'm using this for building evaluations and it works for me without a hitch on Android 9 (LG V35) with Hti's app. Like others mention, the aluminum chassis feels surprisingly solid. Performance is very quick on screen, no hesitation. It's the best resolution (384x288) in this class and 25 frames/second for video is movie quality. I can produce crisp, clear IR images with plenty of resolution to see air movement, siding fasteners, and lots of other interesting and useful details. The tiny carrying case is a nice capsule lined with high density foam that includes a soft rubber lens cover. One oddity is the noticeable mechanical clicking sound the camera makes every 20-40 seconds or so that freezes the output for a second, but it doesn't affect the operational effectiveness for me.

The Hti app autorecognizes the unit when plugged in. I find the app very stable and it hasn't crashed for me once in hours of use over every available option. Snapshots and videos seamlessly end up in Google Photos. All the options and settings are intuitive and useful. Another third part app advertised, "ThermViewer", works with this camera, but I find it buggy, slow, and doesn't list that it costs $35 after 72 hours of use, which is a non-starter for me. Frankly, that app's only advantage is the thermographic scale displayed down the side of an image, which the Hti app can't do. But Hti's app can display high-center-low crosshairs as well as several other points touched anywhere on the screen, which is possibly even more useful. Hti has six good IR color schemes. I find the "Ironbow" the most intuitive, high contrast, and easily converted to conventional white-black thermographic image.

There are a few small detractions for me, barely problematic enough to lower the rating to 4-stars and symptomatic of being a lower cost unit:

1) The aluminum lens cylinder is focused by simply by twisting it into and out of the aluminum chassis, metal on metal. The threads are course and loose fitting. It is so loose that focus is difficult to set and relaxes just touching the lens. You have to gently twist and carefully let go to keep focus. Fortunately, the image is very crisp so this is obvious, but I have to re-focus every shot.

2) I measure the field of view (FOV) at only 28° wide. The other Hti cameras report 35° and 56°, so I figured this would be at least as wide. But you have to step back pretty far to get an entire building facade in view, although the high resolution allows a lot of data capture in a small focused area.

3) The software does not provide image-over-IR type blending like other (FLIR) apps. To get the same effect, you'll have to switch to the camera app, take a picture, and then overlay it with the IR image in 3rd party photo editing software. One Hti app option allows a camera picture-in-picture to be included, but it is too large and occludes quite a bit of IR screen data. Certain reporting standards require some sort of real vision camera shot overlaid or adjacent to an IR image for reference, so this software limitation adds an extra 15 seconds per shot and you can't forget or the IR image can't be used in the report.

4) When changing to another app (camera) the IR selection window setting is lost. I use the three-point to record high-center-low temperatures and crosshair locations, but switching to the phone camera for a reference shot looses the crosshairs. This is a big deal when out on site and you forget to record temperature data on a few critical time-sensitive shots but don't realize it until you are back in the office. Again, I'm using this semi-professionally, so this wouldn't be a worry for casual use.

5) Hti's app does not provide an option to hold the color scale to a constant range. Each shot uses a relative color range. (Pink might mean 78°F in one shot but 52°F in another.) Pro cameras use this feature to visually compare shots or merge multiple IR images into single larger one.

6) Data is captured only as an image, unlike more advanced pro IR cameras that convey the recorded IR data at each pixel for measurement later. This is a minor concern for a unit in this price unit, but a pro will need more.

In summary, it's a great little camera for the price point, useful for casual and non-pro thermography use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing piece of kit

I think it's safe to say that this is the best bang-for-buck out there at the moment. I found overall that it works best between 10cm and ~2m, after which it gets a bit too blurry to pick out details. However, as you can see in the photo/videos it provides awesome resolution between those two points.

The video shows my cat at a distance of about 50cm, the pictures of my hand were taken at 15-40cm. I like the fact you can even see the veins in addition to the hairs on the back of my hand.

Framerate is wonderful and the auto-adjustment (clicks) are fast and barely interrupt use. It has a manual focus so you'll need to get used to using it. One thing I'd like to see in the future is interchangeable lenses but at this price that's a big ask. The app has been recently updated from what I can see - it allows you to remove the watermark if you like and has a good number of features. Compared to the competition the hardware alone in this is a step ahead in every way.

3.0 out of 5 stars Extrem schwierige Bewertung!
Reviewed in Germany 🇩🇪 on October 2, 2020

4.0 out of 5 stars Ausgezeichnete Bildqualität
Reviewed in Germany 🇩🇪 on July 31, 2020
