Retail Arbitrage Kindle Edition
I first published this book in September 2011. The story behind this book was that I wanted to write a long PDF about Amazon and FBA that answered all of the most common questions that were being asked. After I started writing, it ended up being a lot like a book so I looked into self-publishing options. It ended up being really easy and this book was released. I later stopped printing the book because I felt that the book was too long and basically covered two topics. The fist being the business model of arbitrage (along with Amazon and Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA)) and the second being process of sourcing products at retail stores. Not everyone who wanted to learn about arbitrage, Amazon, and FBA also wanted to learn more about sourcing products at retail stores. For them, the book was unnecessarily long and that also added to the production cost of the book.
So I rewrote the book, took out the retail sourcing stuff, and just called it Arbitrage. It was published in September of 2013. It was shorter and priced at just $9.95.
It’s on Amazon here:

It’s an updated version of this original book. It’s only $9.95 and you get the Kindle copy for free with paperback purchase. Kindle copy is only $2.99 by itself, or you can read the Kindle copy for free if you are an Amazon Prime member.
Arbitrage is the practice of taking advantage of a price difference between two or more markets, striking a combination of matching deals that capitalize upon the imbalance, the profit being the difference between the market prices.
For the first time in print, the complete, authoritative, and exhaustive manual outlining the Retail Arbitrage business model has been compiled and made available to anyone interested in buying products at the retail level to be resold online (used books and media included).
In this book, Chris Green will give you the keys to the Retail Arbitrage kingdom with the mindset of unlimited opportunities and abundance and not one of scarcity.
Empires are being built by using powerful new programs like FBAScout to source and evaluate items for resale. Pair this with Amazon's amazing fulfillment program called Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA) to outsource the storage, shipping, and customer service of your items, and you have a completely scalable, nearly risk-free business model with a near-zero entry cost.
The techniques described in this book can be used by anyone, anywhere to build a small side business or large empire. The only limit is you imagination.
This is the BLUEPRINT for buying retail products to sell online for BIG PROFITS.
Early reviews:
Chris has been an invaluable part of helping my staff and I ramp up our Amazon business, and he's been the leading voice of support on our Amazon training course forum. He knows his stuff and I'm thrilled that he's "spilling the beans" in this great new book. Learn from a guy that "gets it". Anyone can start a profitable business using the ideas in this book - I'm 100% convinced of this.

There is no question that Chris is the master of retail arbitrage. Chris taught me his techniques a few months ago and I have been using them successfully since then. My wife and I spend a few hours every weekend finding goods that can be resold on Amazon. Then we spend Monday and Tuesday packing them up and shipping them to Amazon.
My last deal was a Bose Speaker system bought on clearance for $79 that had a retail value of $249 and are selling on Amazon for $215. That is a very nice profit. $97 may seem like a lot for an eBook, but you can make that back on one transaction.

About the author

When Chris Green talks, FBA sellers listen.
For the first time, Chris Green has compiled the complete, authoritative, and exhaustive manual outlining the Arbitrage business model.
This is the BLUEPRINT for buying products to sell online for BIG PROFITS.
Since 1999, Chris Green has been doing Retail Arbitrage, the business of buying items at retail stores and selling them online for a profit. From humble beginnings selling wrestling action figures on eBay, he has since perfected this low-risk, high-margin business model now known as Retail Arbitrage.
Using innovative and powerful programs like Amazon's fulfillment program called Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA), sellers can now remove time and space scaling restrictions that would have previously restricted their businesses. Sellers also now have access to the most complete mobile pricing data using ScanPower for iPhone and Android. Information is power and the sellers with the best information will make the best buying decisions and will be able to capitalize on all of the opportunities around them.
Join Chris as he explains every detail of this fascinating low-risk, high-margin business including HOW and WHY FBA works, the dynamics of inefficient marketplaces, and the psychology of the Amazon customer.
Arbitrage Definition:

This book really makes you feel that you can do it. It explains why many people who buy from Amazon versus their local stores, even sometimes paying more in order to do so (quick shipping with Amazon Prime, free shipping with Super Saver shipping, convenience, availability of items, etc.)He gives testimonials from several sellers ranging from an older lady who shops thrift stores on her lunch hour for items to resell, to power sellers who ship dozens of boxes to Amazon each week to have orders fulfilled by FBA.
All the reasons why being an FBA seller beats stocking and shipping every item yourself are convincingly explained. My only caution here is that selling through Amazon's FBA program only makes sense if you sell a fairly high volume, because of monthly fees and other reasons. And for many sellers, getting to that level of sales, especially if you are doing this part-time, could take quite awhile. I wish I had realized that, for awhile at least, I WILL have to store a bunch of merchandise, and I WILL have to make frequent trips to the post office to ship packages. It will take some time before I am selling enough for the FBA program to make sense for me.
The author does tout his own barcode scanner. I was not ready to invest in the monthly fee (though you can get a free trial) so I am starting with some free scanning apps for my iPhone. Right away I can see that these free apps do not offer all that FBAScout offers, so again, if you are a newbie like me, you have to make the choice: do I invest in the monthly fee because the information FBAScout gives me will help me buy more profitable items and avoid duds; or do I play it safe and wait to invest in this until I am making a profit? It's a chicken-and-egg question.
I wish he gave more space to the other scanning apps that are out there. That is where "Barcode Booty" by Steve Weber comes in. That book reviews a number of apps for iPhone and Android that you can choose from depending on your individual preferences and needs. I feel that these two books combined give the new reseller all they need to know to get started.
Do expect that there will be a learning curve in getting to know the ins and outs of this business. Realize that some of the power selling described in these books will either take some time to achieve, or involve more risk and investment than some people might want to get involved in. Here is how I started out: my daughter was gathering used DVDs for her club's bazaar. I snagged a couple of them, did a quick price check on Amazon, signed up as a seller, and was listing items within a few minutes. I listed the two DVDs and a couple of books to start. I sold one DVD in fifteen minutes, another two hours later, and a book the next day. And that was just stuff we scrounged from around the house. I think this is going to be fun!
In the mid-2000s, I sold many thousands of used books through the Amazon and eBay Marketplaces, and it was difficult work. (I started selling in the eBay and Amazon marketplaces as research for consulting clients, but continued after that work was done.) In the end, I decided to stop because after expenses, I didn't even earn minimum wage for my time! I recognized that to earn a reasonable profit, I'd need to grow this business much larger (dedicating more time and taking on more risk). When FBA came along, I glanced at the fee structure and concluded that it was far too expensive and risky to be workable.
After reading this book, I think I understand how I might be able to profit despite the fee structure, with lower risk than I originally expected. But I'm still not willing to invest the time and money required to do so, and assume the risk that's involved.
I think this book downplays the risks associated with this business model, and I would have welcomed some honest stories about how money can be lost (and how much, how quickly), and how the risks can end up biting you. But the author doesn't appear to hide any critical information, and I found this to be a very informative and useful book.
Choosing a "star rating" for this book is difficult, because I just don't like the idea of giving a 5-star rating to a self-promotional ebook that's priced at $10 (I got it free during a brief Amazon promotion). But I also honestly can't identify any defects in the book that would justify a lower rating.
Chris Green has a nice writing and teaching style. I enjoy his books and video. I do feel he pushed FBA scout way too much in this book. While I understand part of the reason for this book was to sell his app, I would have been annoyed about all the time he spent talking about FBA Scout if paid for the book. It does start to feel like an infomerical about halfway though the book. But once you get through the FBA stuff Chris does provide some really good content making its worth the read. FBA Scout does look like an awesome app and service . Once my business is big enough I probably will revisit this book and
reevauate purchasing the service. As of right now. I can't justify the $40 monthly fee . There are less robust services for 9.95 a month that fit my budget. What Chris is offering is a full business process for $40.00 a month. This can be a game changer when it comes to time management you just have to grow into the service.

I like his reasonable style of educated and intelligent writing that is grounded in realism; I don't get that subtle, gnawing sense that I'm being set up for failure or being sold something from an unscrupulous huckster. If something sounds "to good to be true," Chris acknowledges it up-front (like a thoughtful person would) and asks the reader to prove him wrong. I like that. I'd rather an attitude of "see if you can prove me wrong" than a "trust me" attitude any day of the week.
This book, which is getting older by the day, has principles in it that would be relevant a century from now. Of course there are things said in it that is current for 2015, but again, Chris acknowledges that and suggests the reader to get the current info on the matter.
All in all, a highly recommended Amazon Seller resource.
