This book is an absolute hoot, although I am pretty sure the author didn't intend it to be that way, I hope that the version that is released for purchase has been fully edited and spell checked, because to be quite frank I was laughing so hard at points I pretty much lost what was going on in the story....
As below -
~ Spamming Tissues - Pretty sure they were spasming, but hey what do I know.
~ Not long after we ordered in Italian and had it with a couple of wine glasses. - Were the wine glasses the starter, or maybe they work better as dessert!
~ "Scared the leaving s**t out of me." - Mmmm is that the living.
~ I wrap my arms around him and he buries his face above my bare chest, heaving heavily. - She must smell reallllly bad for that to happen.
And the gold medal winner -
~ A very distinctive bugle meets my middle, when a mighty eager Reeves lands between my legs.
Unfortunately, as I said the above did detract from the story a bit, but if I am honest I struggled to find much of a story to begin with. It started out really well, we are given a definitive prologue for both characters, and their first meeting is unforgettable to say the least.
Nia and Reeves are both battling demons, Reeves we find out about at the beginning of the book, Nia's more-so as their story progresses. I could empathise with Reeves somewhat, but the big reveal for Nia's past issues was a bit of a let-down, and I struggled to understand her whole reaction to it, and if I am honest I was expecting both of their pasts to actually tie up in some way.Read more ›
I honestly couldn't wait to read Retrace by Sigal Ehrlich when I first saw the cover and read the blurb. I thought that this one sounded so good and I was really glad that it was a standalone novel. There have been so many serials and books in series lately, that I was really just looking forward to a good and complete book. However as much promise as this book had, I found myself having several issues with it and it wasn't what I had been hoping for.
Nia Martins and Reeves Mitchell have both been struggling to deal with their pain and guilt. They each lost someone three years ago, and have been unable to move forward. They first meet when they wind up in the same hotel room after a mistake. But soon they are running into each other in their new apartment building, as well as the bar where Reeves works and Nia's new friends often go. As much as they are drawn to one another, things between them are complicated and they find themselves trying to fight what is between them. But when they are no longer able to fight it, they find themselves connecting with each other in a way they have never been able to do before. But as their new friendship with benefits starts to take over their lives, they soon begin to worry about how it is affecting each of them. Nia can't lose someone else and is afraid that losing Reeves will wreck her, while Reeves questions why his feelings for Nia seem to consume all his thoughts. Can Nia and Reeves figure out a way to move forward and let go of the past together?
I liked Reeves and Nia for the most part, but I found them hard to connect with. Reeves was sweet and caring, but he was also completely blind when it came to some things.Read more ›
We start three years ago where Nia and Reeve had to go through something horrible - they both lost someone very close to them.
And now three years later they're both in Cleveland trying to live their lives.
Nia was just hired as a dance teacher for little girls and Reeve is working at Jake's bar - as a bouncer, but not really - Jake hires him out as some kind of security expert/bodyguard to rich people, or rather rich criminals.
When they both move into their new apartments they meet for the first time.
Well, not really - they already met shortly before - under very funny and naked circumstances ☺☺☺
They're instantly attracted to each other.
For Nia, Reeves is literally her dream-guy: G.I. JOE ☺
And Reeves is totally mesmerized by this beautiful dancer.
But of course, with both their pasts still very present in their mind, they're not looking for something serious. And then there's still the problem of Katie - a girl Reeves took on as his little sister, because her real brother isn't alive anymore. But Katie doesn't see Reeves as a big brother!
What will happen to Nia and Reeves?
Will they be able to leave their pasts behind to find their HEA with each other?
Will everybody die at the end?
Will there be a horrible Cliffhanger?
Nope - I'm not telling you ☺
Ok - I can tell you that there won't be a Cliffhanger!! It's a stand-alone Romance!!!
I REALLY LOoOVED THE BOOK!
I love a good, sexy romance...and this one was just perfect.
Lots of sexy gorgeousness in the form of Reeves...
There were some scenes that made me cry!!!Read more ›
