NEW Retractable Cable Management is really great

This is a little confusing as there are several products here, but the NEW version Retractable Cable Management System is really great!

Before I got this people were constantly getting spun up in the cord and now it is up and out of the way. Works remarkably well for how affordable it is.

The whole kit is 6 sticky hooks that hold very well and 6 mini retractable pulleys that clip up the cable. The sticky hooks seem to be sticking very well and I was actually able to use the extra two pulleys off of one sticky hook to hold the headset while not in use (If you do this be careful it doesn't fall, I put a pile of pillows under mine until I was sure it would hold). The pulleys add some tension when moving around, but does allow a fairly large range of movement in my relatively small area (5'x7'). For a bigger area, it is possible it might not work as well.

You could probably acquire all the pieces to build the kit yourself as there is nothing really custom here, but it is very convenient that it is all packaged as one unit. I am actually getting a second kit to hold up the two charging controllers and my headphones when not in use.

Almost perfect kit

It is just convenient to get this set because it includes a few items that are hard to find in stores - like the retractable line and the small carabiner. The adhesive hooks were useless to me. They have the potential to rip the paint off any surface and the retractable line case doesn't fit through the hook itself therefore it is just barely secured. I went professional and drilled holes, inserted an anchor and screwed in a hook. Then I used keychain rings to loop them into the retractable line case. See pic:

I like this system quite a lot. I'm a major do it yourself kind of person, so I looked into buying retractable dog leashes to make a "home made" version of this set up. The problem is that even using the cheapest materials that I could find, you cannot make a system like this for yourself for less money than this particular set up costs($25 as of this writing). I also like that the retractable thingies that come with this system are much more compact than even the smallest retractable dog leashes. The "sticky" hooks with which you use to anchor the retractable units are very good quality as well. Most the time, things with "sticky" backings don't stay stuck anywhere for very long. The "sticky" just gives out after a short time. The sticky backing on the hooks in this kit seem VERY strong. I have them stuck to natural pine boards but I would imagine that they would take paint off before they would come unstuck if applied to painted wood or drywall. All in all, this is a very simple but well put together suspension kit that you would have an EXTREMELY difficult time fabricating for yourself for less money. Definitely worth the purchase if you own an HTC VIVE.

PS: My only problem now is that my Pomeranian Zack, got a bit bored one day and chewed on my VIVE headset cable "just a little". Discovered this while setting up this kit lol! Luckily he only got through the power supply part of the cable so it should be an easy fix of twisting two wires back together. Gonna give my $800 VIVE a whole new look though :( Still, it wasn't Zack's fault. Was his owners fault for letting the cable droop down to where he could reach it...

Versatile adhesives, hooks, and pulleys for a comfortable VR experience.

Firstly, I love this cable management setup. Unfortunately, it makes a bit of noise when one of the pulleys extracts or retracts, but the noise is not too loud and can hardly be noticed when you're playing with a good pair of wireless headphones. The Vive earbuds suffer from some additional noise due to the wire getting tugged on when I move around, but that's no big deal since I rather use my wireless headphones. The adhesive you attach the hooks to is strong and can hold a lot of weight when attached to the ceiling or a wall. This system could probably be bought cheaper if you bought it all separately at Wal-Mart or some similar store, but I wanted someone with experience to pick me the best parts for this rig. I'm actually very impressed with how comfortable it becomes after you use it for a short period of time, but it requires some creative thought to figure out where you should place each hook. In my case, I only needed three of the hooks and three of the pulleys for my Vive rig. That left me with 3 extra hooks and 3 extra pulleys. I can bend down, touch the floor with my face, stand straight up, sit down in my rolling chair, and never have the cord in my way. It works great. Between this and the face foam pad replacement, I'm not sure which is the better investment for my Vive, and I regret neither purchase. I believe the next step is to get a wireless adapter, but thanks to this cable management rig, I'm patient.

Great System

This is for the type H version.
Please stop reviewing this product in regard to the shortcomings of the Hive cable. A tangled cable is NOT the fault of this product but the Hive design. This product makes it tons better but no product can change the Hive design... At least in this price range. Lol

What a game changer! Having the wire overhead is so much easier with this setup. I have a low ceiling so I did not need all the hooks but it's nice to have backup. Before I was hesitant to fire up my Vive because it was a hassle to untangle all the cords and wires but now I can play for 5 mins or an hour and it's so simple.

When finished playing, I just leave the cord hanging overhead and put the headset on a side shelf but if you don't like the look of overhead wires lol, it unclips in a second or two for hidden storage.

I don't know how many times I've had to stop playing to untangle the cord but no more!

If I had one tiny criticism it would be a lack of instructions. I had to look at the picture online to see how to set it up but to be fair it's pretty simple and I could have figured it out on my own.
