Since inception, W.E.T. have been so consistently good. When you have such a great collection of songwriters, the melodies and the hits just keep flowing. These guys are gifted at melodic metal/AOR and that is not a bad thing. Furthermore, since adding Magnus Henriksson on lead guitar they have a bit more edge and aggression in their sound. These songs are melodic metal bliss! It would be easy, given our current circumstances, to let an album like this fall under the radar. This kind of radio-friendly ear candy has not been popular for decades but it doesn’t take anything away from what they are crafting.
Robban Back’s drumming is also a highlight because you can feel the live-band vibe so much better now in these studio recordings. Not only do the songs ooze melodic bliss, but the power level keeps the urgency of the music up to pace with our frenetic times. Never does this band sound dated – this is a classic form of rock/metal that will always connect with the passion of the heart.
Erik Martensson has such an incredible ear for recording, mixing and production that you will not find better sounding rock music. And there is no compromise in quality – every song here is essential with no filler. I think Jeff Scott Soto is still on top of his game (his “Beautiful Game”), and he may be even more honed because of his recent work with Sons of Apollo which has given him that aggressive stance and edge.
I think Earthrage was very good, but Retransmission is an exceptional mix of old-school Def Leppard and the blistering melodic metal of Impellitteri with a contemporary sound-mix that is unsurpassed. If you love AOR with a metal kick, gorgeously packaged and produced, don’t hesitate to grab this.

WELL WORTH THE WAIT
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on February 8, 2021
The word " Supergroup" is widely used to impress punters when labels are promoting new product. Sometimes it pays off but in the case of this group, they never fail to deliver classic rock music, time after time. The talent within this group is unbelievable with every person being at the top of their game but Erik Martensson is the person who brings it all together. In the 1980/90's, this man would have been regarded as a genius within rock music circles and I am so glad that he is around today with projects like this and fronting his "day job" , the superb ECLIPSE . With CD prices being hiked to a level that makes digital formats more attractive pricewise, I have to be more selective over my purchases and this man never fails to deliver in all that he does. Buy this CD if you like great melodic rock music and also the excellent value Eclipse "Viva La Victouria", you will not regret it!!
