I got the first book free, just wanting a change in reading material from the lengthy and difficult History of Italy which I can manage only in chunks. I'd no intention of going past book1 of the trilogy. But I found the characters so interesting I had to read on. And on again. This was a whole new world with its own mythology, yet it also mixed history, mythology and modern reality. This new world is amazingly complex. But in the end it all meshes with each aspect adding I?nteresting detail not only to the characters, but to the overall plot as well. Somehow it worked! And a believable world was made from ordinary kids, Angels, demons, a gargoyle, Wiccans and a hereditary group modeled after Medieval Knights who guarded sacred relics. Both Lucifer and Lillith, surprisingly paired not with Adam, but rather one of his sons.Even God makes a guest appearance.
The changes in local are frequent , yet each is a necessary and believable change keeps the reader on his toes.Timee and Space take a back seat, a demand of the story,if not the author. The ending was complete and satisfying, yet it open enough that the author could continue the series, although the ending was solid enough not to NEED more.
This book has all the action you could ask for. Dayton has come a long way. From shy, quiet, and scared to determined, independent, and strong. She gets right in there and saves her man...er...I mean demon! Just like any good woman would do. There is not much better than angels and humans or demons and humans unless its angels and demons. So what do we have here? A half angel and a renegade demon--I guess it does get better! Marcus has a great personality and it fits his role perfectly. Their love is such a big part of the story without it taking over and becoming sappy.
I had great enjoyment reading this book and recommend it highly. However, this is the third in a series, read the other two first!
