The Armstrong family as a whole were down to earth and very likeable. The parents were living and supportive of their boys. James was a little self absorbed and floundering but still good at heart. He just had to realize he didn't have to compete with his older brother. He had to grow up and be happy in his own skin.
Dylan was supportive of his family, hard working and a brilliant business man. But, he was lonely. He need to start thinking about himself and what would make him happy.
And here we come to the heart of the story, the chauffeur's son, Luca. Luca, who had an unrequited love for James since they were childhood playmates. Sometimes, even when we grow up, we hold onto our fairytale dreams until reality smacks us upside the head.
I won't spoil the outcome of this engrossing tale of searching for true love. Just know that everyone finds their HEA in true Tara Lain style.
I should start by saying the I loved Dylan—the hardworking, stand up brother trying to expand the family business while filling in for an ailing father and covering for a "seemingly" devil-may-care brother. Who I hated. James could have walked off the page after the party scene and I would have been happy. His redemption wasn't enough for me to reconsider that opinion and if I had one bit of advice for his fiance, it would be to run. But the majority of this book isn't about the brothers who make up Luca's triangle. The majority of this book focused on Luca. On his unrequited feelings for James, his desire to open his own restaurant, his confusion of James' sudden interest, even more confusion over Dylan's, his conflicting feelings for both, the other guy who's name I instantly forgot, and the complete obliviousness that could have prevented everything. Seeing the conflict coming a mile away, I was so disappointed that Luca cut and run instead of facing it head on. Dylan riding to the rescue, then following with all Luca's dreams on a platter was a let down. Sabrina didn't need to be saved and I'm sorry that Luca did.
Well written, with moments of humor, tenderness, and romance—this was a book I wanted to enjoy more than I did.
