The story line is good and I like the characters but it needs some more editing. The author really likes to use foreshadowing but it only foreshadows something on the next page so it gets really annoying. One of the main character's name is spelled differently in different parts of the book and one character gets assigned to two different dragons. That really made me think that the author really didn't care, which makes me question whether I should read any upcoming books in the series. That being said, I hope he continues the series and fine tunes the writing a bit.

This is a good read but not a great one for adults. The book seems to be written more for teenagers. The writing quality is good, the story line might be a little lacking, but for me I never tire of the same old thing if it is done well, and it is. I finished the book in about 4 or 5 hours altogether and I would still say it was time well spent. If you are taking a long trip go ahead and bring this one along.

I found that this book was quite good except for the fact that every race in the book knew this one prophecy and that they automatically liked him even though he killed ... sorry, but i can`t tell you. that would give away too much.

Overview
Anders is the son of a diplomat who thinks his life is boring. that changes suddenly when a portal opens in his bedroom wall and he sees the most beautiful girl ever. little does he know that she will open up doorways to his heart and magical potential, among other things. i would recommend this book if you like swords, pixies, heroic quests (sounds cheesy, i know), and good old fashiond butt-kicking.

(P.S, my next review will be on the phoenix conspiracy)

The first book and first half of the second were excellent, but something went amiss in the second book. There was too much mind talking which became confusing as to who was speaking during long conversations. Too many characters were added in a short time and it became hard to keep track of them. The introduction of the dragons totally killed the story instead of adding depth. The story started moving too fast after the introduction of the dragons, and it doubled the characters which was already starting to get cumbersome. Too many battles too soon. The main character is still being developed. It just felt like too much too soon. I was really loving this then got bored when th he pace changed. Hopefully, the author will pull it back in and developed the story a bit more in the next book.

You swing a staff until you're ready to swing a sword. Then you go on all kinds of adventures -- fighting monsters, casting spells and saving damsels in distress. This is the sum of our hero's tude! Great read, page turner nails you to the floor and doesn't let up. The end comes up so quick you ask yourself did I just finish that?

An easy read. Although I seldom read fantasy, I found myself well entertained as I read. But, that does not mean that the book has no flaws. There was the usual (for e-books) sprinkling of spelling and grammar mistakes, but none so flagrant as to ruin the reader's focus and enjoyment. Give this one a try if you are in the mood for fantasy.

An OK, capital OK, story but series is starting to drag and getting silly. In a fantasy you is expect the unbelievable but it must be in a logical framework. Also you want the characters to develop within the story. The author is getting a little lost with his characters and confusing the readers.

I may try one more, then again I might not. There was no real feelings at the end of book 3 that I had to see what happens next.

I bought this omnibus during a lull between new releases from some of my other favorite authors just hoping to pass some time. WOW! Before I knew it I had read the entire thing and wanted more immediately!! Thanks Mr. Jacobs for giving me yet another series that I am hooked on :)
