Serenity brings two people together for a grand adventure

Authors A.K. Duboff and M.D. Cooper brings us the adventure of Terry a woman who left the Serenity system to find herself in the universe. Little did she know that one of the first places that she would stop at after visiting the Dyson Sphere Star City that she would run into a former Gallas Guard who is also a hair to one of the great houses. Terry and Cyrus team up to get one of their now shared enemies off their backs but as their adventure continues they find out that one of the great houses is preparing for civil war with the rest of the houses in Serenity. It's up to Terry and Cyrus to reactivate the AI aboard the Perseus who had been shackled for over a thousand years. As they do this the secrets about what really is going on force Terry and Cyrus to change their plans about leaving the system as they prepare for what's to come. I highly recommend this book to all science fiction fans and to fans of Dune as well since there are similar themes running through the story. I'm looking forward to reading the second book in this duology.

Not gonna lie, I’ve been waiting for this story since the collaboration was first announced. I love both authors’ universes, so the announcement of the two of them working together in Aeon 14 had my full attention.

I’m delighted to say that this story met and surpassed my expectations.

“Return to the Ordus” deftly weaves family and system politics, personal growth and discovery, hard science, and myriad other details into a gripping, cohesive whole. It so thoroughly immerses you in this world that you feel like you’re part of it, rather than reading about it.

Bring on Book 2. I’m dying to know what happens next!

Terry just wants to do things for her ship and her self. Have an adventure maybe! But when a long distance auction brings her visitors at her dock, she is not sure what to do next. But Cyrus is a different type of guy. Attracted to him, is he just going to suck her into more of an adventure than she wanted. This is an excellent book that you won't want to miss. The characters are believable and real.

A duology In the Aeon 14 Universe

The further you go, the faster you run away -- the sooner you end up home again. Terry has a great ship which specifics she needs to keep hidden. Even with all its abilities she still needs to make some money to take care of the essential. Bidding on some parts, she didn't expect to end up being dragged onto another ship. It wasn't in her plan to join up with others, but, it made sense. Little did she know it would end up taking her back to her beginnings where the politics had become even more heated. Saying more would give away the story and it was a very good story, co-authored between Cooper and Amy, DuBoff both great world builders. The characters grow on you quickly and you cross your fingers and hope they succeed in obtaining the freedom they desire.

Serenity is an enjoyable side trip by an author new to the Aeon14 Universe, but not new to writing excellent space opera. If you haven't read her Cadicle series, you should. I am looking forward to reading book 2 in the Serenity series.

An attention grabbing revisit

Ever since Sabrina briefly introduced us to the Klemperer Rosette and its five settled moons, I was fascinated by the quaint setup of this Serenity Ordus. Partially backwards technologywise and with constant old world political manoevrings that impacts all and sundry, political aspirations may prove to be lethal especially amongs the siblings in the ruling houses. The Ordus, somehow has a surprising Victorian vibe that continues to amaze me.
And in the midst of all this it is the practical, sassy young Terry, engineer extraordinaire, that had me smiling in satisfaction from the first page to the last.
It is indeed a pity this Ordus series is going to be limited to a duology only but, then, we get to see how everything gets resolved so much quicker too.
