Let me tell you a story...

About the Author

Debra Anastasia is busy, just like every other mom. There's dinner, the dogs, the two kids, and her violent IBS--which is under control thanks to medication except for occasional multi-tonal farts. Her first love and crowning achievement is her thriving career as the weirdest mom on the block. Her writing started a decent handful of years ago when--along with the animals and humans in her house--the voices of characters started whispering stories in Debra's ear. Insomnia was the gateway to plots that wouldn't give up, wouldn't let go. Now they stalk her everywhere. Halfway through making lunches, a twist takes hold and--fingers full of peanut butter--she finds somewhere, anywhere to write it down. Debra lives in Maryland with her family. You can find her at DebraAnastasia.com and on Twitter @Debra_Anastasia. But be prepared...

Sometimes you read a book, you wait for the sequel, and you know exactly what it will be about. And then sometimes you don't. I've been a huge fan of Debra's for several years now. I buy her books and give them out as Christmas presents because I think they make us want to be better people. At least, that's how I feel about her words.

When I cracked open Return to Poughkeepsie (RTP,) I knew that it would be one of those books that I'd go into blind, and it was. Wow, what a ride. The story takes us to the future and gives us a glimpse at the characters that we love so much. Just when I think I'm getting the idea of what's happening in the story, Debra twists it. And I'm suddenly on the set of a movie (in my mind) and watching mobsters, gun play, romance, wild sex, and magic happen.

That's really all there is to say about this book. It comes together like magic. The creative way that Debra weaves her words, leave us with nothing but awe and love. And if you're always seeking something different, like me, then you'll adore this book.

It's not a beginning and it's not an end. It's the deep shit that happens in the middle. Return to Poughkeepsie is the part of life that grabs you by the balls and makes you glad you're still breathing afterward. I can't say enough great things about this book and this world Debra Anastasia has created for us. And you know what, I feel okay saying that she writes for us. I believe in my heart that she does.

Five amazing stars my favorite read of 2013!

**5 "On the Edge of My Seat" Stars**

Let me start by saying that I don't believe my review will do this book or series justice.  All I can say is WOW!!!  This book sucked me in as soon as I started it and didn't let go until it was done.  I knew that I was going to love Beckett's story and I was right.  Debra didn't disappoint :). Debra really knows how to write a sequel that is just as great as book 1. This book was chocked full of emotion and action.  It is a book that is impossible to put down. I really don't think I can express all the feelings I have in my head right now. This review is very difficult to write because everything I want to say is a spoiler and I won't write spoilers. This is definitely a book you need to experience on your own. I absolutely LOVED this storyline….it was so different from anything I have read recently…that is such a great change of pace and is so refreshing :) As usual, the writing style of Debra Anastasia is flawless. This book, even though we had time changes and POV changes flowed effortlessly.

This book was so much more than jus t a love story or about Beckett coming back. This book takes off right where book 1 ended. The way that the author played out this story was fantastic. I loved that all of the old characters from book 1 played just as an important part in book 2. We also met some new people. I will admit that I started this book a little confused at first, but over the course of the story everything is completely explained and by the end you are left knowing everything you need to know. As I said before…I fell in love with Beckett in book 1 and I have to say I love him even more after reading this book.

Return to Poughkeepsie is a must read. Debra Anastasia is truly a wordsmith.
I felt like I was right there with them. I have form a connection with these characters. From the very start all of my emotions were pouring out. It has action, love, Beckett (what more can you ask for) and a kck ass Eve.

I have a habit of reading my books in bed at night. When my eyes get tired I will eventually drift off to sleep. But this book kept me awake! It kept my adrenaline pumping. It has more action scenes than the first book. The loyalty of the characters to their family and friends is amazing. The acts of kindness and selfless love are inspiring. After reading the sneak peek, I can't wait for book 3 to be released any longer. Publish it earlier, please.

I am thinking my good streak has ended. I had anticipated this book for so long when I heard the author was going to write a second book to Poughkeepsie. I knew the first book left some things open but I was happy the way it ended. Book one was amazing; Livia and Blake’s story was one of beauty although the storyline in Poughkeepsie was very hardcore and involved a lot of crime and murder. The amount of obstacles in their way was enormous but they fought and ultimately they won and their love for one another prevailed. In the first book, the focus was on Livia and Blake and it felt like a love story, but there was also Cole and Kyle and their love story as well as Beckett and Eve happening at the same time, but they seemed to entwine with each other. The story was fast paced and filled with excitement from beginning to end.

I had thought that Return to Poughkeepsie’s focus was to be on Beckett and his love Eve. Unfortunately I found it lacking when it came to them. They are apart more than they are together throughout the entire book. The times they did come together left me feeling disappointed. I was trying to dig into my mind for reasons the author takes this route and I just did not get it. This is a rare occurrence for me especially if you have read my other reviews. The story gives you some sweet emotional moments of Cole and Kyle trying to build their lives. I also loved seeing Blake and Livia and how their family has grown as well as the love they share. The way the author wrote them was very true to real life. Livia was not always dressed like a model. She is a busy mom and wife and penguin pajamas are the new sexy lingerie.

Beckett is a bad guy. I say this respectfully because he is also a great guy.
