I love Ghost Adventures, it is my favorite TV show of all time. I waited what seemed like FOREVER for the season 5 DVD to come out. When it finally did, I was so pumped!

Unfortunately, I was beyond disappointed when I started watching and there is a big stupid bright-blue TRAVEL CHANNEL logo in the lower-right corner of the screen the whole time. WHY the hell did they do this? It's not even transparent, so anything behind it is blocked out and it is there the WHOLE time in EVERY episode. In a show that is in the dark most of the time, it is even more distracting and annoying to have this big dumb smurf-blue logo in the bottom of the screen. It's annoying, in the way, and a buzzkill for the entire experience.

I can understand having that logo there when it's on TV on the actual Travel Channel, but WHY have it there on the damn DVDs that I paid for? SO STUPID. It's almost unwatchable with that friggin thing there. I'm so pissed off about this. I know it was on the Travel Channel. I don't need some dumb bright-blue logo blaring in the corner of the screen the whole time to remind me.

GO TO HELL, TRAVEL CHANNEL.

As this is one of my favorite shows on TV, I'm excited to see that DVDs will continue to be released. Even though its still not full seasons and some of these episodes aired almost 3 years ago, they finally get around to releasing some of my favorite episodes. This set once again like season 4 appears to have just 12 episodes. Pretty low considering the Season 3 DVD had 15 episodes counting the bonus Valentine's Day special.

List:

Disc 1:
Hales Bar Marina and Dam (April 29, 2011)
Kentucky Slave House (May 13, 2011)
Tooele Hospital (May 27, 2011)
Loretta Lynn Plantation House (June 10, 2011)

Disc 2:
Ashmore Estates (September 23, 2011)
Mizpah Hotel (September 30, 2011)
Old Town San Diego (October 7, 2011)
Winchester Mystery House (October 14, 2011)

Disc 3:
Lizzie Borden House (October 21, 2011)
Letchworth Village (October 28, 2011)
Return to Virginia City (November 11, 2011)
Rocky Point Manor (December 2, 2011)

All the episodes here are good but I always enjoy seeing the episodes where GAC investigates a hospital and there 3 such episodes on this set. Tooele Hospital, Ashmore Estates and Letchworth Village. Letchworth was especially creepy probably one of their best investigations. Another episode I found interesting was the Winchester Mystery House, quite an interesting story on how and why it was built the way it was. Again here I think there should have been a few more episodes on this set just like some of the previous Ghost Adventures DVDs.

Been watching Ghost Adventures and really enjoy watching the show. Was thrilled to find it in Prime viewing. However, in mid season episode viewing Amazon has taken it off Prime and is now charging to watch the show. Bad form, Amazon, bad form. You really need to nickel and dime me that much? Color me disappointed

This Episode features a glaring example of why Zak Bagans, Nick Groff, and Arron Goodman are scarier when they sing... than the Demons they investigate(!!!).
The Loretta Lynn episode is the one that actually made my 83 year old mom become a fan of the show. She actually said, "Loretta was good friends with Elvis and Johnny Cash, she wouldn't have let them boys on her place if they weren't legitimate and honest...Loretta Lynn is a fine Christian woman...she's a real person!"
I really love this episode as it show-cases the use of the Ovilus device. I felt that the information garnered about what was buried in the Grave-Yard was probably not understood in real time by Zak, and that the information was probably more shocking to Loretta. I think they uncovered a PHENOMENAL clue that had been lost to time that related to a very old dispute and may have a lot to do with why the place was so haunted. But again....I am not convinced that Zak ever fully realized how important that information probably was to Loretta Lynn.
I was very impressed by the camera work and also by the extreme respect that Zak gave to the beauty and aura of Miss Lynn's estate. Too many of us...especially those like myself who grew up in the South, Loretta Lynn is a living Icon. Zak showed a great respect for her and for her property.
As always it was enjoyable to see Arron locked in a basement against his will. Nick and Arron have got to be two of the most underrated cameramen working today. In some ways I believe that the camera work and the editing are one of the most amazing features of this show. It is my feeling that the Groff-Goodman combination on the cameras was one of the Luckiest moments in Travel Channel History.
It has always been my suspicion that Nick Groff is a director at heart....

The blue travel channel logo at the bottom right didnt bother me at all. What did bother me is what has happened to the show? Zak does more apologizing and sympathizing than provoking. I understand that after time and bad experiences that you dont necessarily want to make evil be attached to you. There's things that can be done before and after to ensure no attachments. But the whole show is so different now.

It used to be so raw, exciting and scary. You never knew what you were going to see because they didnt either. Even though the premise was the same, it wasn't predictable. The whole basic premise was just 3 ordinary guys, all with their own personalities and quirks that just clicked. They went into a location after some initial interviews with ppl who had experiences there, made sure to put black X's of tape to setup static cameras for rooms they werent in to catch activity, they wouldnt otherwise see, and they were LOCKED IN for 12 hours straight. We experienced what they experienced. It's as if we were there with them.

Now its 3 guys who do some interviews, go in whenever and come out whenever. There's no more 12 hour lock downs. They're constantly interrupting the flow of anything going on by stopping for a multitude of reasons. I like Billy Tolley but it's a distraction to have him sitting somewhere watching while they ask him to let them know when he sees or hears something so they can stop and discuss it or leave the location to go look at what was caught.

They are SO into the all their gidgets, gazmos, and new whatever to catch things that they're not even startled by whats in the room with them thats unseen anymore because they have all these devices and screens to show them exactly where any spirit/energy is now.
