There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
There are 12 solder points on the mesh filter. Initially 2-3 broke apart. But I soon decided I liked the Ultra-fine filter the best and was only going to be using that one.
Unfortunately, the Ultra-fine went missing in the kitchen one day and hasn't been seen since. So I started using the mesh one again.
In a short time, the solder points continued to break apart. Now 8 of the 12 points are broken, so the filter is being held together by only the remaining 4.
I decided to contact the seller, E3 Studios, via correct Amazon procedure. They have failed to respond to multiple efforts, so now I am posting a review to let others know of my experience (in terms of both the product and the seller).

update, 3/5/20:
I tried to update my review and rating last week, but it does not appear to have gone through. Not sure why that would be.
After not hearing back from E3 Studios (the old Seller), I posted a review and tried contacting the new Seller, NolkCo. They did respond quickly and were very nice. Sent me a replacement kit for all three filters, not just the mesh one. So 5 stars for customer service from Nolk.
Hopefully the replacement will last longer; of course that remains to be seen. Since my first effort at updating did not get posted, now I have about a week's use with the replacement. So far, it is holding up well (unlike the original, which had already started breaking apart at this point).
updating my rating from 1 star to 3 stars to reflect NolkCo's great customer service. (still unclear why my earlier efforts to contact E3 Studios went unanswered — and whether or not Corretto, E3, and Nolk are all the same people/company.)
If the replacement mesh filter continues to hold up, I will again update my rating to reflect that.

update, 5/12/20:
after another 2+ months of use, the replacement mesh filter has continued to hold up. So far not showing any signs of coming apart like the old one did.
changing rating from 3 stars to 4 stars.

These filters are so much superior to the paper ones.. I have been using the Aero-press for a couple of years now and have tried various filters. The beauty of this version is that you get 3 DIFFERENT stainless steel filters. Ultra-fine mesh, fine and coarse.. And each has a different effect on the outcome of the coffee. I prefer the least fine, although you do get some 'sludge' in the bottom of the cup. The flavor is richer, fuller and darker. The middle one is better for guests if they are not used to this brewing method, and the mesh .. well, I don't really use it, but it does a make a wonderful cup as well.
I've been drinking espresso exclusively for as long as I can remember and have a few good pump machines (semi-automatic/Italian made). However, the Aeropress is a little gem of a coffee maker. It makes such a wonderful brew that I am almost ready to discard my big pump machines (I am keeping them just for frothing milk for my wife.) The secret is that you can micro-control the water temperature, which is the most critical factor (82-84 deg C.) and brewing time to help 'shape' the final flavor palette. Now with these 3 different filters I can also modify the brew according to the bean/roast and other factors.
Heavenly coffee..!
After reading the reviews, I was concerned that we would have to start brewing using the inverted method (since a few people had said the metal filters didn't stop the flow like the paper filters did); I had tried the inverted method previously and was not a fan.
Super pleased with the filters. Very easy to clean if done promptly, otherwise we have to use our kitchen scrubber. Inverted method not necessary in my opinion.
We were some happy with their performance that we bought another 3-pack and sent it to my wife's brother who introduced us to the aeropress in the first place.
Since I don't care for the inverted method, I mostly use the Regular method with 14g coffee and 300g water... Combining the mesh + fine (or ultra fine) filters slows the drip nicely. Yields a nice rich brew with almost no sludge/fines.
To avoid losing the filters in the garbage, I keep a small container handy on counter to empty grounds into. I use the stir paddle to dislodge grounds from filter. Then rinse.
Am liking these Corretto metal filters.

The 3 filters of different hole size provide versatility buy honestly in the 6 months I have owned this product I have only had the need to use the coarse. The filter still looks like new!
Just as easy to use as the paper versions. I note the reviews stating they are harder to use than dumping both the coffee grounds and filter paper in the bin but that is nonsense. You simply take the aeropress plastic cover off, slide the metal filter off and plunge the grounds in the bin. Quick wash of the cover and filter and you are done.
Not had any problems with the holes becoming blocked.
There is the added benefit of not having to worry about running out of papers and reducing waste.
The described brewing method is also in my opinion superior to what I was originally doing with the aeropress, providing a much stronger coffee. You brew with the aeropress inverted and slip the metal filter on top before attaching the cover. This allows you to brew for longer without your coffee escaping through the normal paper. I guess you could do this with the papers although as it is not rigid I think it would be more of a struggle.
