Great in theory but not in application

I found this bar to be too short to fit an average kitchen towel. The photo shows a kitchen towel folded in half then placed on the bar. I hang the towel to let it dry so I don't want it folded. The real kicker was the extended length. It doesn't slide out far enough to put the towel on. It only slides out a few inches which makes it very cumbersome to use and I have it mounted as far forward as possible. It slides well and the provided hardware mounts it solidly. The cover plate over the mounted part is plastic. That may be advantageous to avoid id corroding with the towel's moisture. Again, great concept but needs some bugs worked out of it. I did return mine.

While the towel bar will serve our purpose, I am disappointed in the materials used. The cover portion of the sliding mechanism is made of silver colored plastic rather than chrome finished metal, like the rest of the item. That's just cheap and cheesy, and is not disclosed in the product description. There are many well-made stainless steel cabinet organizers to choose from; I'll stay away from Rev-A-Shelf products in the future.

Very poor welding. Prongs can easily snap off at any attempts to widen the prong-end gap.

The welding is of such poor quality that a prong snapped off when some mild pressure was applied to slightly widen the distance between the prong-ends so that towels are easier to insert.

Other than that, it is an excellent sturdy product with very heavy gauge wire and thick chrome plating.

Product is well constructed, but installation can be tricky. Our kitchen cabinet construction required a 1/2 inch shim between the cabinet wall and the sliding pull out towel rack so towels would clear the front door frame. Caution: be aware that sawdust from drilling holes can easily collect in lubricated ball track - clean out of upper and lower ball tracks before final assembly, otherwise you will have rough sliding towel rack.

We compared Rev-a-shelf's 2 bar (this holder) and their 3 bar version. The 2 bar holder has ball-bearings for the slider and seemed more secure than the 3 bar so went with this one. Length was great for 2 dish towels and also didn't take up nearly the amount of room in the cabinet the 3 bar version did.
