In this last book of the Inside Out trilogy, we follow Sara and Chris while they are in Paris. Sara has taken the plunge and left with Chris to get know a side of him he has hidden from her since they met. They both know how much they love and need each other. After Sara's confrontation in the States, she could use a break. But still, Chris is keeping something from Sara. They go through a whirlwind of emotions due to discoveries they didn't think they would make. Sara fully believes something terrible has happened to her friend, Ella. No one seems to know where she is and, like Rebecca, Sara expects the worse. Sara also runs into Chris' past, mostly in the form of a gorgeous, tattooed blonde named Amber. It is clear she wants Chris and Sara will fight tooth and nail to make sure no one gets to him. But Amber has different plans. I really did like this turn of events. I knew we would meet the tattoo artist that means a lot to Chris, but I didn't expect it to go the way it did.
I loved all that we learned in this book. Chris' big secret is revealed and now it all makes sense. It made me love him more. Chris is one of my favorite male leads. There is a reason for everything he does and why he does it. He carries the world on his shoulders and hasn't been able to trust anyone to carry it with him. Jones delivered another emotional read that was just so beautiful. I love what we learn about Chris. It was quite a heartfelt moment and I loved how Sara handled it all. I love how much strength they get from each other. They both have had their doubts, worries, and insecurities put on blast (Sara especially) and I love that they still fight to make sure they find their way back to each other.
This story was paced beautifully for me. It picks up immediately after Being Me and it doesn't miss a beat. Sara has quite a bit to deal with in this book. She is put to the test with Chris. Can she really handle his darker side? Can she handle his secret? It was exciting to see where she would end up. I loved the connections she made in this book. She has a French tutor named Chantal who I adored. Sara takes to her quickly since she reminds her so much of Ella. I liked the sparks going on between her and Rey, Chris's friend and Sara's bodyguard. I would love to see a development there. But the story of Ella takes on an interesting twist. I am too anxious to see where this goes. Just wow!
Now, we have known since the beginning that this is a trilogy, but the book doesn't end like one. I think we will get more of this world, but through a POV. I have a feeling who, but I can't and won't say. Some people have been upset, but I really don't understand why. Jones is brilliant, I know she knows exactly what she is doing. Can you honestly say that three books would have been enough? This story is way too complex for that and if the ending is any indication, we have only scratched the surface. Thank you Jones for such a wonderful series. I have gladly stayed up 'til 5 AM in the morning reading this book alone and it was worth the lack of sleep and the crankiness.
