Some things don't need to be improved. This kettle, identical in every way to the one we had when I was a kid, is simply a classic. Perfect in every way.
Bottom Line: buy something else.
This new one is totally inferior. It is very light weight in comparison and feels flimsy and cheap. The trigger mechanism is oddly arranged and uncomfortable to use. And to top it off, the darn thing doesn't whistle at all. It's just a shame that they didn't keep the manufacturing quality and simply increase the price, and because of that this is the last Revere we will purchase.
As a side note, my wife locally purchased a tea kettle made by Farberware that was physically acceptable, but it kept emitting a foul taste into anything heated in it. Nothing we did would stop it so it was returned. I yearn for the days of quality American made products before they moved everything to China.
