While I have enjoyed previous series of Rev Black I found this one dragged a bit. I actually had to make myself finish it. It just seemed like I heard it all before. I actually miss some of the drama from previous books. I think this story is complete and it is time to move on to more exciting characters. I do enjoy the author's writing and look forward to her next series.

We are back for the 9th installment in the Rev. Curtis Black series and let me tell you if you know anything about the Black family you know that you are in for the ride of your lives!

Curtis is determined to divorce Charlotte after her double infidelity last year, but Charlotte has other plans. She is not going to give up on her family without a fight, and boy is she in for a fight! No matter what she does, nothing seems to be good enough. Curtis is treating her like a stranger in their home, Matthew is still hurt and barely speaks to her and Curtina is 4 so she loves Charlotte and right now that is what is keeping her afloat but she needs more. Curtis is hurt and tired of the back and forth between him and Charlotte and has began talking with a female member of the church. She is nice, listens to him and doesn't judge him but what Curtis doesn't know is that just most women, she is trying to figure out how to be the next Mrs. Curtis Black. Will there ever NOT be problems for the Black family?!?!? You will just have to read and find out!

I love Kimberla writing style and the way she keeps us coming back for more. Her storylines are strong and if you know anything about the way Roby writes you know if something small happens in this book, it will be HUGE in the next one! Looking forward to the next installment! Keep up the great work, you never disappoint me!

Wasted my money Kimberla usually writes better than this and what was the whole blow by blow steps of the relaxer I guess just to make more words.Total disappointment!

I have been reading this series for a while now but this will be my last book. I think the story has ran it's course and it's now flat out boring. I know God wil forgive us 70 X 70, but really now? One would think that by now, Charlotte would be growing in her faith and grace with God and stop making rookie mistakes but no, it is the same ole same old. Rev'd Curtis is no better, his eyes continue to rove and they are both a mess! What I didn't like most of all, was how the author dealt with Charlotte's drinking. She is an alcoholic and it is time someone send her to rehab or the church intervenes. I was just not impressed with the story. I must add however, that this author writes really well and minus this book, I am a great fan of hers! Actually, I have read every book she has written.

Having read the entire Curtis Black series I was terribly disappointed in this book. It was slow, boring and so unlike the previous books. I got the feeling that maybe someone has led the author to believe that she shouldn't write such "fiction" about "good church people" . This book was very disappointing and the fact that it can't be shared made it even worse since it was horrible and I know at least fifty people that paid for it and it clearly was not worth the wait or the price. Having serious doubt about ever reading ANY of her books again.

Ok, I like the series, but really? I mean dang! I did not like how this so called preacher thought he could treat his wife. Curtis Black is a hot mess, but he is no different from a lot of real life preachers as we are constantly finding out. The book just points again that we better know who we are marrying and two wrongs definitely don't make a right. The holes in this relationship has caused it to become Swiss cheese. Sometimes it is better to just walk away. Or as Curtis finds out, you may get lured into a path of deception that you may not be Able (pun intended) to get out of. Charlotte doesn't know her worth if she is willing to give up self for a drink and a lying, cheating, preacher-man. Can I get an Amen?

Another page turner! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, (#9) in the "Curtis Black" series. As I've stated before, "Oh what tangled web we weave; when at first, we practice to deceive". So now, on to the next saga in this series (book #11/The Prodigal Son). Book #10 was the first book I read before I realized it was a series, so I'm moving on to Book #11 next. I highly recommend that you read the "Curtis Black" series, you'll love it!

Happy Reading.

Just when you think the Reverend Curtis Black series can't deliver anything new Kimberla Lawson Roby's saga takes another turn and leads the reader on a roller coaster ride through more drama! Roby continues to make the series work through new issues that arise around the Black household and ministry. This is good Christian fiction, illustrating the fallibility of Christians at all levels, and reminding us that we need to learn to forgive each other just as God offers us forgiveness.
