About the Author

Paul F. Aubin is the author of many CAD and BIM titles including the widely acclaimed: AUBIN ACADEMY MASTER SERIES: REVIT ARCHITECTURE, MEP, AUTOCAD MEP and AUTOCAD ARCHITECTURE, Paul Aubin is an independent architectural consultant who travels the country and abroad lecturing and providing Revit Architecture and AutoCAD Architecture implementation, training, and support services. I've ordered several of Paul's instructional books. They are clear, concise, and logical in the way material is presented. I like being able to either go through each chapter in order or look up specific skills I want to develop. The tutorials are great and (contrary to the prior review) it was also VERY easy to download the supplemental materials.

This book is wonderful and powerful. The way he describes each and every aspect of the tools. I mean everything. I have two revit books I am learning from. One is about click hear and there. This is one is telling you why you are clicking. I am only at chapter 7, but I understand everything I have done so far. There is a WHOLE lot of reading in the book. But last time I noticed, reading wont hurt you but help you.

The book has a great number of illustrations and step by step procedures, which is good. However, the book is definitely not for the advanced user. I should have returned it, but have instead given it to a newer user.

Good luck finding datasets!

I would start by saying that I have no less that 4 books from the same author on various other Autodesk products. All of these previous products shipped with CD companions with the datasets for the tutorials. This particular title did not. Instructions were included in the preface for downloading the datasets from the Cengage website. However, the files cannot be found on that website at the time of this writing. I called Cengage and was transferred to Autodesk activation line, then to pre-sale customer care, hung up on, called back to Autodesk, given another Autodesk number (transfer not possible), and called that number. During the 30 minutes required for the previous "circus" I was able to locate the files, not on Cengage website but on Paul Aubin's website.

The book itself is well written and through as all of the Aubin books are but Cengage/Delmar Learning need an overhaul!
