The Christian pastor has been rightly called “the physician of the soul.” In his book Reviving New England: The Key to Revitalizing Post-Christian America, my friend, Nathan Pickowicz, looks past his local congregation at the broader spiritual landscape of the Northeast and has accurately diagnosed the problem, clearly articulated the root cause, and has practically prescribed the only remedy. Recounting the rich spiritual history of the land, he argues that the way forward is backwards. The way to influence culture is not to blend into the liberalism, relativism, and pragmatism of our day, but to retreat back to the infallible foundation of the Holy Scriptures. Rather than conforming to the world, the church must conform to the path God has clearly defined for us in His Word.
Reviving New England is insightful, practical, and visionary. I highly recommend this book for any pastor, layman, or church member who desperately desires to see revival in their lifetime. We need more men who will stand up and boldly declare God’s Word to a dying generation. We need more churches that will once again shine bright and influence post-Christian America with God’s absolute truth. But most of all, we need God to do a work in our day. Pray for men. Pray for churches. Pray for New England. And definitely buy this book!
Even if you are not from New England, you'll find this book helpful. First, it will challenge you to pray for and support churches outside of your town. Second, it will remind you the responsibilities of your local church and you. This is a must read.
If you find yourself in the NH Lakes Region of a Sunday, we will welcome you at Harvest Bible Church in Gilmanton Ironworks. You won't be confused - it is the only church in the Ironworks. We read God's Word, we teach God's Word and we are trying to live God's Word.
