Sadly, 90% of the peace movement has always been made of up communist front groups. What they really mean is that the U. S. and other nations should not use military force to stop communist takeovers of nations around the world. Communists could always start wars in other nations and kill however many people they needed to to win, then get down to the real killing once they take power, but no nation could try to stop them without being labeled "warmongers."
Sheehan's use of her son's death as propaganda is proof of what a disgusting and despicable person she is. If he had been fighting for communism, she would praise his efforts.
This book is a pack of lies and twisted truths, and I am sure that Sheehan knows that as she said in a tv interview that her political opinions existed before her son even joined the military.
Funny that she would hold Chavez up as a peaceful man given that he threatened to launch a war against Mexico over some petty thing and regularly threatened his neighbor Columbia with war to support the communist guerillas in Columbia's jungle.
Sheehan treats an brutal dictator as if he were a prophet.
People are suffering in Venezuela's prisons and journalists there have been murdered for the very right to free speech that Sheehan uses to pretend to want world peace when she wants world communism. Caracas has the highest rate of murder in the world and the police won't even try to protect any citizen who isn't a known communist and Chavez worshipper.
Sheehan fails to tell how people, even families, turn against each other under communism, with those for communism hating those who aren't believers. And you must be a true believer or else.
People don't have enough food or basic necessities in Venezuela, not even toilet paper, and the government's pathetic excuse for its endless failures is that the evil U. S. is sabotaging everything, even their toilet paper factory.
Interestingly, the Cuban people have no toilet paper available either, and Chavez did love Fidel Castro.
Can Sheehan explain how taking everything away from the middle-class and making everyone very poor is fair or creates peace? No.
If American communists believe communist countries are so wonderful, why don't they go live in them? Cindy would be much happier wiping her ass with the propaganda newspaper, the only paper allowed.
What's also amazing is that our educational system and parents are so ignorant and negligent that some people don't know anything about communism and its worn-out lies that it cult-like followers have been telling for 80 years.
For God's sake, at least 100 million civilians have been slaughtered for not being good communists in the past century in communist nations and many millions more imprisoned and tortured. How much suffering must there be for a theory some fool made up in his head in the 19th century and was later forced on whole nations by arrogant intellectuals who believed an untested theory? How many times does that theory have to be tested and proven to create a true hell on Earth?
Karl Marx be damned! He was no saint, and, anyway, the result is proof that the road to hell can be paved with good intentions - though communist dictators have always been after total power, and, usually, great wealth.
In practice, communism is the most extreme and brutal form of capitalism because all wealth ends up in a very few hands with no middle-class (the middle-class, not the rich, are the class enemy in Marxism) and almost everyone poor. The most severe wealth inequality happens with no chance for anyone to use his talents to move up in class, and the most severe abuses of the poor masses by the very rich few at the top of the government.
In Cuba in the 1960's, Castro gave his pal, Che Guevara, a rich white boy from Argentina, a Mercedes and a mansion the length and width of a whole city block that Castro had stolen from someone. That was Guevara's reward for knowing the right fellow rich white intellectual (Castro) and for also enjoying having people shot (and Che wasn't even Cuban, a poor Cuban didn't get the car and mansion). If poor people were moved into mansions that Castro stole, it was multiple families per mansion, not a giant mansion with one man.
