Broken Sword is a Point & Click/Search for Clues type of game genre unlike any I'd ever played before! Although searching for clues by the way of finding certain obsure objetcs certainly isn't anything new. However, it is HOW these objects are found that sets this game apart from the rest.

I felt the game was not too short & didn't drag on either. Some will not like the exessive dialog. I for one, enjoy it as long as they are short, 1 or 2 liners. Broken Sword was not so easy that I was able to complete it within a few hours yet, it wasn't so difficult where I felt I needed a Walkthru nor did I ever want to quit at any point.

The only negative i found was on the HD Kindle Fire...the text used for the deirections & any other information, were extremelt tiny considering I had such a large screen. it would be nice to see ALL of a tablet's s reen utilized in an update.

This was a great game. A little different from other point and clicks on Kindle Fire. Reminded me more of "Beneath a Steel Sky" and "Flight of the Amazon Queen". A few crashes here and there, but nothing game breaking. Goes on forever. A good 7 - 8 hours of gameplay. Highly recommended if you've ever played and enjoyed the original point and click adventures (like the ones mentioned above).

I first encountered this game when it came out for PCs years ago, and loved it then for its uniqueness. The Nintendo DS version a couple of years ago made me think the game didn't pass the test of time. But this remastered version for the kindle fire hd has some additional graphics redesign, dialog updates, and changes to overall feel that are better than I remember the original. To put it simply, much much better than the other myst/hidden object/puzzle games I've come across so far for the kindle fire. By the way, I got it for under a dollar, so it's a must buy at that price.

The game is a combination of searching for clues/objects, and interacting with characters in the game. Each character may not have a point towards your end goal, and you can attempt to combine seemingly incongruous objects together, but the always colorful commentary adds depth to the main story. Going through all the quirky dialog may take a couple of days of playing, and may exhaust some players, but will provide a more movie-like feel to the game. If you expect easy answers always (they play upon you thinking you are smarter than the game which makes you try the same approach in different ways several times), or using the hints too much, you will likely miss the depth of the game.

However, I recommend taking your time and savoring the game, as I haven't found anything close to it yet for the kindle fire. Feel free to comment if you think there are other games in this space that are better/comparable.

This game really does deserve 5 stars but I just can't!! Too many freezes too many crashes too many glitches .. This game is incredibly long. I am the type of person who will play all day until I beat it. this game took me days! cartoon like graphics is an interesting and refreshing change from the typical CGI you see on everything any more. if I didn't have to shut it off sooooooooo many times I would have given it a 10 star rating.... but.. as it is it was fun and interesting, kept you involved and is like the cooler older brother to all the rest of the hidden object games.

This is the remake of the old Broken Sword that you might remember from your childhood playing the SCUMM-type of interactive fiction games. The story is great, the humor is clever and the game has a fair amount of content. It's definitely a throwback to the past in terms of game play (basically you see a side view of each scene and you tap on different things to interact with objects. This game shines with it's plot and would be a 5 star from me except that it is not designed for high pixel-density devices (like the Kindle Fire HDX and Nexus 7 2013) and this makes menus and the in game journal nearly impossible to read with a magnifying glass.

Note: I contacted the publisher and they said they are coming out with a fix (that was Nov. 2013). The fix is still not available (Jan 2014). I hope it becomes available so people with the newest devices can enjoy this game.

Pros:
- Great story - the story is interesting and compelling.
lots of game play - It took me over 18 hrs of game play to finish
- Automatically saves your latest spot - great for when you put it down and then pick it up again.
- Hint system - since there isn't a lot of replay in a game like this (it's the same every time) I'd discourage using hints or walk-thrus but it is nice that they have a hint system built in and that it give hint in increasing order of obviousness (so it just doesn't tell you what to do if you ask for a hint).
- Journal keeps track of important clues - you don't need to take notes as your automatic journal copies down all the important details if you need them later.

Cons:
- Text in menus and the in game journal are way to small to read on new devices with high pixel density (Kindle Fire HDX, Nexus 7 2013)
- Game crashes occasionally - not sure what causes this but the game does occasionally "blue screen" and reboot the Kindle Fire HDX (FireOS 3.1)
