Top Customer Reviews
This was truly disappointing as I really liked this device. Honestly, life changing. When you can come home and the house reacts to your presence, you get used to that and add it to your life. What a shame that Nest discontinued this device without so much as a replacement. Nest apparently doesn't want Revolv users to be customers of Nest.
Firstly it doesn't support enough devices yet (like schlage locks) and the depth of functionality for many supported devices is minimal. For example only controlling a small subset of sonos, z-wave switch, and lock functions.
Secondly and a bigger issue is the software. It does what it says it does and does it well (add devices, turn devices on / off, make basic actions). However it is not ready for full house automation - for example a single page of devices and actions is not scalable. It needs room groupings, it needs 'if then' actions. It needs to be smarter like when I linked an insteon sensor to a hue light and automatically turned the light on. It never turned the light off when the sensor was not detecting. Now given their excellent support, enthusiasm and last round of funding I am sure these guys have the potential to get there. But it is early days.
Bottom line I am super happy with my purchase but recommend folks go in with eyes wide open - it doesn't have the richness that anyone experience in HomeLinc or MiCasa will be looking for. For someone new it is a great way to get started and be sure you are not locked into just one set of device protocols.
Not as easy out of the box to set up.
Once setup, it works great and really does a lot for the money
MiCasa now Vera Control is way behind in firmware updates
Version 1.5 was stable but version 1.6 never got to work with the new servers they point to
Has a USB for those that want to control things but never used it personally
Works with my Schlage locks but very flaky and hard to get setup
Vera3 mobile software is lacking in features and functions
Tech support response has been slow to respond to emails. 3-4 days at best.
Easy out of the box setup
Paired up quickly with my devices, Schlage locks, GE duplex plugs, GE dimmer switches, Honeywell Thermostats,GE Control Outdoor Module
Once setup on Ipad, very easy to email invites to my Iphone, Android Phone. Sends a key to input for multiple device setup
Lacking "SCENES", i use this to open and close my garage door using a dry contacts z-wave relay. Worked great with Vera3
Scenes feature is coming Tech support told me in a few weeks
Lacking support for IP cameras but they are working on it
Great Tech support. I called and only waited less than a minute to connect with a Tech
Very good Iphone & Android apps. Very simple and easy to show my wife how to use.
Revolv is currently testing several DIY alarm systems like the 2G and alarm.com
Sonos App is nice, but I still prefer the full featured Sonos App.
Overall I would rate the Vera3 a close contender but the Revolv has so much more going for it out of the box. Am I happy with the switch, YES. Is it enough to change from a Ver3 to Revolv?Read more ›
The ONE feature that I would love, which no company seems to have is compound/multiple conditions like if temperature is below 45 AND I am away from home, etc. etc.
Devices I have connected:
- Nest (pretty sure this is the only device I've seen that connects with Nest as a home controller)
- WeMo (the entire range)
- and counting!

Interesting idea, but very difficult to connect with Android devices. You essentially have to reprogram for every phone you want to control the hub with. Non-informational errors. Read morePublished 6 months ago by Nick H
I hate when some larger company (Nest) buys smaller company (Revolv), only to let down previous users of former company. This product had so much potential! What a waste...Published 7 months ago by Cesarvog
