A recurring theme, which I use with my clients, is to make sure necessary expenses are covered by guaranteed income (Social Security and pensions) and discretionary expenses covered by savings and investments. If there are no pensions - likely the case as they are endangered species - then create one with income annuities.
Delaying Social Security for higher benefits if possible is another great tactic. And having a plan for a likely long term care event is also something most wealth advisors conveniently ignore.
His step by step approach is in English, easy to understand and I am ordering it for many of my planning clients and siblings!
