More Ways to Record
Using a hardwire kit with your dash cam allows you to connect to your vehicle in more ways than one:
- Connect to a fuse that provides power with the car ignition, only recording while you’re behind the wheel.
- Connect to a fuse that is constantly powered, allowing you to keep recording around the clock.
- Connector: Mini USB Connector
- Input Voltage: DC 12V-24V
- Output Voltage: 5V
- Working Temperature: -22°F to 167°F (-30°C to 75°C)
- Cable Length: 13ft
- Low Voltage Protection: 11.6V for 12V vehicle
Find the Correct Fuse Slot
Locate the car fuse box, please refer to your car's manual. Open the fuse box, find the correct fuse slot for your hardwire kit. If you need to find an ignition switched fuse, put the key in the vehicle, find the fuse which is not lit up while the car is off, and test it by turning the car on to see if it lights up. If your kit requires constant power, turn off the car and remove the key to see which fuse slots stays lit on.
Connect the Red Wire
Our hardwire Kit come with a 15A Mini type fuse. Once you've determined which fuse slots you need to use for your hardwire kit, plug the fuse connector into the fuse box in the correct orientation.
Ground the Hardwiring Kit
Slip the green wire (which is in the shape of a C) under a metal bolt or screw in your vehicle (this is the ground wire). Check that it is not attached onto plastic parts. You will typically need a socket wrench to loosen the nut or bolt that you choose to ground with. To attach the grounding terminal, loosen the nut or bolt enough to slip it in and tighten it back up afterwards.
24/7 Parking Surveillance
Low Voltage Protection
Smart low voltage protection automatically shuts off the power to your dash cam when the battery voltage drops to 11.6V, thus preventing it from draining the battery.
Compatible 12 – 24V Vehicles
This hardwire kit accepts voltage from any type of vehicle that runs on 12 – 24V. Works perfectly with cars, trucks, buses, SUVs, or big rig's for continuous power.

Reconnecting the wiring instantly introduces static to the FM radio. It's actually kind of funny. Plug the camera in: static. Unplug the camera: no static, repeat. I left this hard wire kit disconnected and used my Rexing camera with the cigarette plug instead and didn't have much problem. A spot or two here and there would have some static that seemed to go away if I unplugged the cigarette plug but for the most part it wasn't an issue.
I have this hard wire kit in another car as well that has poor radio reception, now I'm interested in seeing if it's the cause there as well.
This kid needs to be re-manufactured with some kind of shielding or something to prevent interference. I'll be looking for a different hard wire kit ASAP!
There is just one bit of information I want to share with those buyers like me here on Amazon. With how the USB port is positioned on the Viofo A119 device, when you connect the USB cable end, the cable wants to run down to the front of the camera, so you will have to loop it backwards to keep it up in the header area. That is not a problem to do, but it prevents me from being able to use the AV Out to hook it up to my 7" TV screen I use for my backup camera, and iPhone. The cable from the USB cable blocks the AV Out port. If you are not going to use that on the A119 Dash Cam then you are okay. Again this is a good USB power cable, no issues using it at all. I highly recommend this item, just be sure that where you use it will not cause an issue for trying to access any other ports that may be on your device.
It's also worth mentioning the unit I received did not match the picture and was hard-wired to one side of what appeared to be a 15A mini-ATO fuse (it was blue) covered in a rubber boot. I would strongly recommend cutting this off and adding a properly-sized inline fuse instead before hardwiring. Plugging this hot-wire contraption into an unused fuse slot would either route the power thru what appears to be a very oversized fuse or bypass it altogether. (You have a 50/50 chance of hitting the line side of the fuse socket depending how you orient it.) Either way is no bueno. If what I just described doesn't make sense to you or you do not understand vehicle electrical systems I would suggest having a professional installer do this for you. It is too easy to create an unsafe situation if you don't know what you're doing.

The downside is that the fuse that came attached to the cable was not compatible with my car, and it wasn't replaceable, so I had to actually cut the cable, buy my own fuse, and splice the 2 together. So it's not a universal kit. I would have given 5 stars if it came with the parts required by all cars, to make it universal.. until then I can only give it 3 stars.
