I Should add that the left hand margin is wide, which is somewhat annoying for letter writing or if you intend to use this as a journal. I did not think so at first, but it crept up on me. Doesn't change my rating any as it largely boils down to personal preference. To give you an idea, the margin on this pad is about 25% wider than the standard margin you find on most binder filler paper or other writing pads.
Minus one star because the paper in the pad I received was initially warped so the pad did not sit flat. You may or may not have that problem when you buy from this vendor. I don't blame Rhodia; I think this has to do with how the pad was stored (probably it was stored for too long in a humid environment.) After about a week of sitting my office unused, though, it seemed to straighten out, probably because the humidity evaporated out of it.
Also note that the left margin rule on this pad is unusually far into the page (about 1.75") which "wastes" a lot of this beautiful paper if you don't use the margins. Initially I didn't like this, however, I have now found that the wider margin is quite useful for adding additional notes/stars/additions to what's already been written on the page. I wouldn't mind an even larger margin now, actually!
1. Pages are thick and feel extremely well made. The pen glides across the paper and the ink sinks in nicely.
2. The Outside is sturdy. I recently spilled water all over the cover and it didn't soak through onto the pages. It even dried on the cover. If it had been a regular notebook, all my pages would have been ruined.
3. It looks classy and is good to write on since it is so sturdy.
1. My only complaints are that you can't write on the back of the pages easily, which is fine with me as it gets hard to find things. It's also harder to rip out pages, keep the pages in the notepad.
I will be buying more of these when my first one runs out of space. It has helped me be more organized and I love the quality of this notebook.
I call it feather proof because no matter how wet your fountain pen's nib is, the ink refuses to spread on this paper. It keeps the finest lines. With an extra fine nib, you could write a book one one sheet of this stuff.
Cheaper paper soaks up the ink and makes large messy spots, it feels very coarse and the ink bleeds through to the other side. Not this paper.
