Richard M. Dolan is a gifted historian whose study of U.S. Cold War strategy led him to the broader context of increased security measures and secrecy since World War II. One aspect of such government policies that has continued to hold the public's imagination for over half a century is the question of unidentified flying objects.
UFOs and the National Security State is the first volume of a two-part detailed chronological narrative of the national security dimensions of the UFO phenomenon from 1941 to the present. Working from hundreds of declassified records and other primary and secondary sources, Dolan centers his investigation on the American military and intelligence communities, demonstrating that they take UFOs seriously indeed.
Included in this volume are the activities of more than fifty military bases relating to UFOs, innumerable violations of sensitive airspace by unknown craft and analyses of the Roswell controversy, the CIA-sponsored Robertson Panel, and the Condon Committee Report. Dolan highlights the development of civilian anti-secrecy movements, which flourished in the 1950s and 1960s until the adoption of an official government policy and subsequent "closing of the door" during the Nixon administration.
Working from archival sources, professional journals, and his own investigations, Dolan describes UFO encounters worldwide, demonstrating that the phenomenon is global, and the result of advanced technology.
Many cases involved sensitive military airspace. These include intrusions over American and Canadian air bases; attempts to intercept a UFO over Tehran; the landing of an unknown object near two airbases in Britain; large boomerang-shaped craft near New York City; unexplained triangular craft seen throughout the U.S. and Europe; strange objects in Earth orbit seen by Soviet and American astronauts; and encounters with UFOs from around the world.
Dolan also studies "UFO politics," describes the black-budget connection, and provides a geopolitical analysis to explain the whys and hows of UFO secrecy.
Finally, he provides a history of UFO research itself. He recreates the discussions and debates concerning alien abductions, animal mutilations, intelligence community infiltration into UFO research, the controversial MJ-12 documents, the Gulf Breeze controversy, reverse engineering of alien technology, crop circles, and more. Dolan also studies the effect of such new technologies as the Internet on UFO research.
This is a complete history of the phenomenon, the secrecy, and the response by researchers who sought to understand the mystery. Behind it all is the backdrop of a world in technological, economic, and political transformation.
"UFOs and the National Security State: The Cover-Up Exposed, 1973-1991," takes the reader through a turning point in the history of the UFO phenomenon, as well as the history of the modern world.
But this program is not a simple extension of the normal operations of the U.S. government or military, much less of NASA. Instead, it seems to be the product of what Dolan has previously termed a “breakaway civilization,” a radically advanced and increasingly separate structure that has access to classified science and data denied to the rest of us.
Adapted from his classic lecture at the Secret Space Program and Breakaway Civilization conference in San Mateo, this is now offered as a volume in the Richard Dolan Lecture Series.
Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee said this about A.D. After Disclosure when it was first published: "Zabel and Dolan have brilliantly created a compelling blend of history and informed speculation that makes their exciting world seem like tomorrow's news today."
This book was the first, among thousands of UFO books published, to devote itself entirely to what the world will look like after we admit that at least some of the unknown objects being flown in our skies are from someplace that isn't here and are flown by someone who isn't us.
This compelling future history is a non-fiction work that combines meticulous fact-finding from historian/researcher Richard M. Dolan and forward-leaning scenarios from journalist/screenwriter Bryce Zabel on the world's most mind-bending subject.
The first edition of A.D. After Disclosure was published a decade ago and experts agree that it was a startling insight into a world that seems to be transforming before our eyes. Predictions made in the book have already become headlines.
The authors predict how UFO disclosure will happen and how it will change the world as we know it completely. It will impact government, science, religion, education, the military, law, culture and the way we see ourselves in the universe.
Whether disclosure leads to social panic or ushers in a new era of unity and peace, this is the book to read to understand what's ahead for us, and how we can deal with our brave new world.
In this second volume of the Richard Dolan Lecture Series, Historian Richard Dolan tackles an enormous subject. After explaining why UFOs are taken seriously in national security circles around the world, he provides his best analysis to date as to how the secrecy on UFOs has taken form, how it has corroded our society, and how it works internationally. He gives a fresh analysis on the black budget breakaway civilization, on the weaponization of secret technologies, the intelligences behind the UFO phenomenon, and how Russia and China fit into the global UFO cover-up.
He drives his analysis home with four distinct disclosure scenarios: Fascist Disclosure, Premature Disclosure, Insider Disclosure, and People-Driven Disclosure. Finally, Dolan offers a unique view on how the UFO cover-up and possible disclosure could transpire during the presidency of Donald Trump.
One thing is clear: we live in a world that hangs in the balance.
He offers fresh insights on everything connected to UFOs, whether it's ancient aliens, modern encounters, abductions, channelers, the politics, the cover-up, the bizarre science, the social dimensions (read YouTube and Facebook), the future, and much more.
This is a fresh perspective of an ancient mystery from one of the world's leading UFO historians.

In a field that can be so confusing, so complex, Richard Dolan has taken his many years of thinking about UFOs and written a completely fresh overview of the entire subject. . . . This is an ambitious work that truly ties the many different aspects of the subject together. It's rare to find something like this, especially considering the care and thoroughness that went into it.
