This one starts with Lo, Rick, Frank, Stacey, Jim, Kull,Temple, Ellen and the rest of the crew on a voyage to Canada. The celebrity contingent are there to mingle with the people who love their movies. The ultimate goal though is to get Canadian funding for the next two movies. Cheech Garibaldi and the director Wolf are also on board and will be handling negotiations for the funding.
Of course nothing ever goes as planned and right off the bat there is a murder on the ship. Now the security detail for the ship are unarmed and have never dealt with anything like a murder. They are more than happy to let Rick and Lo handle it.
The murdered man was paid to cause a problem with the celebrities on board. A woman named Sophra Brinfrey is also on board and it was one of her men who killed the man. A fact that is revealed when Kull the pit bull tracks him down. Brinfrey is a billionaire who thinks she is above the law. A fact that is quickly proved to be wrong when Rick and Lo contact the FBI director. Since Rick and Lo are FBI agents and a special unit that can do what needs to be done when called Brinfrey will be heading to the FBI office.
Seems Brinfrey and some of the other movie people are involved with the Illuminati. The Illuminati will of course try to kill Rick and Lo. After losing quite a few of their people they decide that they will be leaving Rick and Lo alone. Some of those belonging to the Illuminati don't see it that way though.
So begins one damned fine read.
This one has Rick, Lo, Frank, Kull, Bone, Steve, Trish a actress who serves the Illuminati, an actress who is murdered, her murderer who Lo and Rick capture, a murderer who is an assassin and ex SAS who decided once he got back to Britain and saw all the Muslim idiots that he would become an assassin, Rick and Lo decide he's worth saving and pass him on to Floyd Kennedy so he can give him all the info he has on the Illuminati, a group of snipers, a Rick who ends them, a group of snipers who would have killed Kennedy and anyone around him when they arrived to pick up Brinfrey, a Brinfrey who is attacked by one of the four lawyers who show up, a Brinfrey who survives, a Jim and Ellen who become part of school security when they get home, bad guys, death and Rick and Lo doing their best to get their friends and employees home in one piece, survive and stay alive.
As they respond to each threat, they learn more about who has authorized the attempts on their lives, and their names are added to Rick and Lo's threat list. Jim has own share of run-ins and handles them like a pro. Kull the pit bull solves a couple of murders on the ship.
This may be the best Cantelli/Madigan adventure yet. The body count is high ... but they were all bad.
