Tons of useful and interesting information that you would have to search online in several places to find the same information. It's a heavy book so not one you would want to pack on your trip and carry during the day. But an ideal book for planning ahead of time or taking a pictures of pages you want to remember on your trip.

This is apparently not in depth enough for some people, but I found it detailed enough to help us plan and take our trip to Europe. Rick’s tips saved us from a lot of waiting around. And one tip actually helped us avoid a three-hour wait at the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. And his suggestion to pack light allowed us to haul around a lot less stuff. Worth every penny.

I love how Rick includes a lot of cultural info in his books. This one focuses on some of the major cities and sights in Europe, and he breaks each one down into 3-day itinerary plans to help you get ideas for how to plan your trip. I bought the Kindle version of this book to aid me on my long-term Europe trip, rather than buy each one of his country- or city-specific guides individually. I like the fact that I can highlight certain places in order to quickly find them again when I'm on my trip. His accommodation listings are mostly hotels, upwards of $100 per night, but he does mention alternative options in some cities. I mainly just love his books for the inspiration and the skip-the-line/avoid-the-crowds information.

This book is heavy! Not sure why they recommend it when RS Tours are all about packing as light as possible. They should’ve just made this into an ebook/pdf for download (and ease of updates).

Everyone told us to get the Rick Steve’s book before we planned our trip to Europe. Thankfully we listened and have a much better idea of how to plan our trip. Specifics provided are places to eat, how long it takes to get from one place to another and even ideas about how to plan rest stops.

Seems like a wonderful resource however it doesn’t have Belgium or Luxembourg.

It's very helpful but very centered on specific preference. Only includes what the author considers "the best" cities. Doesn't include Greece. Also, too heavy to take with you.

Steves take the time to not only provide details of destinations, but also gives the reader rankings of Countries and Cities to visit first plus he ranks the sites within the country. EXACTLY what a first time visitor needs. I will combine his recommendations with those of friends and family. Of course, I will be sure to read at least two other sources before developing a game plan for our first trip to Europe. I grow tired of fru-fru books that say everything is great and every city is great. Steves sticks his neck out with opinions and details to back up those opinions. I have every reason to believe that all of the more specific guides will be similar. I HAVE ALREADY SUBSTANTIALLY CHANGED MY OPINIONS OF WHERE WE WILL GO ON THE FIRST TRIP. Is it exactly as he recommends? NO. Not at all. We prefer the out of the way smaller uncongested cities vs Paris, Rome and London. Not for us, thanks. BUT, we have already developed an initial list to investigate based on his info of those smaller "second tier" locations that suit OUR interests. After all, it is OUR trip. But with this guide, we have saved dozens of hours of research. Highly recommend for anyone. Beat Michelin big-time
