I had high hopes for this in the beginning, but it soon fell flat. The military action was well done and very realistic. The domestic violence was very chilling. However, when we came to the point where it is our heroines first day at her job I was inundated with incredulity, lack of common sense, and even an ounce of realism.

The heroine just came out of a BRUTAL relationship, and yet on her first day she is "getting wet panties" and can't stop thinking about our H licking her all over. What? Oh, and let's not forget how she blew in to town with "the clothes on her back and a backpack full of expensive lingerie". Yet again, what? Not even a moments hesitation after getting beat up and raped, and more than once, and she can't seem to control her hormones let alone have a moment of hesitation. Guess those beatings didn't knock any common sense or hesitancy in to her. I have never been in such a relationship as that, but one would think that it would make you gun-shy for at least a week. She couldn't even get past the first hour!

And the men at the gym were all a combination of someone from Soldier of Fortune magazine and GQ. They seemed so perfect that they quickly became uninteresting. And of course, they were still doing dangerous missions or MMA training during the day and bed hopping in the evening. I felt like a high school girl was writing about her fantasy men; there was no realism or practicality in any of it.

Honestly, I couldn't get past the first quarter after all that. The books blurb showed an interesting premise, but is soon fell short with the over-whelming cliche story line. Between the heroine squealing like a little girl and the Hero eye raping her and calling her "Doll" it became a bit too much.

Overall Rating: 4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆
This is the first of three parts in the Ricochet series by author Heather Leigh. It is a full-length novel that will be released in three parts. In this first part we meet Rick and Quinn and discover the past that haunts them and the beginning of their story

Memories are not always easy to put behind you and this is the situation that Rick “Ricochet’ Brennan finds himself. He was a retired Marine that had served in Special Ops Recon. After returning to civilian life he was recruited by Howard McEvoy, his former commanding officer. “Mack’ had opened a gym that fronted for an elite force of men that still served their country through covert black ops. Returning from a special ops job, he becomes fascinated with the new receptionist, Quinn. Her skittish behavior and refusal to have anything to do with him, intrigues him. He is determined to get to know her and find out what haunts her.

Trust no one! She had trusted a man that she thought loved her and had become trapped in an abusive relationship. Each day that she managed to stay alive was a day that she had not expected to die at the hands of her husband. Quinn knew that she had to find a way to escape before her time ran out. When she finally found a way out, she went to Mack, a friend of her father. Afraid of her shadow with a broken soul, Quinn was thankful for Mack’s help. The only thing was the men that she finds herself around are huge and fighters. This is extremely difficult for her to handle because of the violence she endured at the hands of her husband. One of the men refuses to take no for an answer, even when she tries to ignore. There is something about Rick that she finds irresistible. Is it possible that she can find more with Rick?

The Ricochet series by Heather C. Leigh has a very special unique combination of the kind of romance heroes that readers love. The series is based around an MMA Training Center that is the cover for a secret private special ops organization. The men that run this gym are not only professionally trained fighters, they are also lethal warriors. How could I not read this new series?

Ricochet: Locked & Loaded is the first book in this three part series. As in most series, the first book introduces the reader to the characters, sets the stage for the overall plot, starts to build the undeniable attraction and heated chemistry between the characters, and starts to weave the story. In Ricochet: Locked & Loaded the reader gets a good idea of who Rick and Quinn are. The reader also gets a taste of the heated attraction between the two. The reader also gets an idea of both of their demons that chase them.

I really enjoyed this first installment to this series. I am really looking forward to the next book, Ricochet: Friendly Fire. I think the reader is going to get the meat to this story in this installment. I have a feeling the suspense and romance are going to heat up beyond boiling point.

The great thing about the Ricochet series is that readers don't have to wait weeks or months for the next book. Each book is being released one week apart.

Don't miss out on the Ricochet series by Heather C. Leigh

Rick (Ricochet) is a former Marine who along with other retired military guys works at a MMA ring for Mack, a former commanding officer. Behind the scenes, they do special operations that only a few people at the Pentagon are aware of. To the public, they train guys to fight. He never plans on settling down, until he sees Quinn.

Quinn has escaped an abusive husband and starts working for Mack, a friend of her late father's. She's attracted to Rick, but has heard about his reputation. Just when things look like Rick and Quinn have made progress, Quinn does something I'm not sure I'll forgive.

Ugh....freaking cliffhangers. I liked Rick and love that the man who doesn't want a relationship has fallen so hard for Quinn. Quinn suffered a great deal from her ex and is very untrusting. She's also very quick to make assumptions and they're often wrong. Right now, I'm not liking her at all. She's got a lot to do to make me change my mind. I waited until today to read these stories, because the third book and conclusion was released today. I already have two and three downloaded.
