Meet the Mafia...
Alexandra, daughter of the Family mafia head boss, was raised to be the obedient daughter and future wife of a made man. Behind closed doors her father sees her as a pawn and someone to verbally abuse, while her twin brother gets to do whatever he wants. Losing her mother at a young age she misses that mother/daughter love. At a wake for a made man and a rat, she finds out her father just handed her to a up incoming made man Leo, and daddy sends her off with Leo for ice cream.
While out she is unintentionally involved in a shoot out with some of her family's men and another family's. Her cousin is dying in her arms and a cop, she thought was in her father's circle, where he could help her brother. Little did she know that she just became dead to her family and now she is in a race to live. Her aunt will hint at things, tell her stories about her mother and her mother's twin sister. Her aunt will make calls, gather bag with little things and loads of money and a gun and will also drug Alex for her new journey.

She'll will know her other but older brother, stepfather and his son Ryan, the man that she picked for herself. He will fight her from the start but is secretly please she picked him.as he pick her, it their relationship will be all over he's hot-cold, he wants her- don't want her, get jealous but He will be with other girls to keep his mind off Alex. His father have him a chose his patch or Alex, not in nice way.
Will Alex ever get the title of 'rat' erased from her new world or will her past come find her and make an example out of her....
I debated back and forth about reading this book due to some of the reviews I read on GoodReads and Amazon. Some of the reviewers complained about Alex crying all the time. And to these reviewers credit, Alex's crying after awhile did kinda get on my nerves. But this is who Alex is. Alex is a very emotional girl. Alex being a crybaby fits the story. Before she met The Forsaken MC, Alex was Rapunzel living in a stone tower. So she definitely gets a pass when she's thrown into the a world she never knew existed. As for Ryan, yeah he's a huge jerk towards Alex for the majority of the book. But Ryan is the opposite of Alex, he's emotionally constipated. I challenge readers to look deeper at Ryan. He's a member of a MC, who was raised by his dad the MC's president. He learned from a very early age that the Club comes before everything. Do you really expect him to have a Dr. Phil moment and reflect and evaluate these feelings he's never had before for a woman. NO!
Ride is not as dark and gritty like some of the other popular MC and Mob romances, but the story is solid. I was in a book slump when I finally decided to read this book, and I was sucked in after reading the prologue. I will probably finish the entire series by this weekend. So two things, when you read book reviews take them with a grain of salt. And second, if you're looking for a new series to read, buy this book.
Alex makes a terrible judgement in error under duress in the beginning of this story, and that's what brings the MC to her. I'm not giving anymore away, y'all just will have to read this book. I really would recommend this series. I now need to get the rest .
Thanks JC Emory, really a good read. Am Lookin forward to the next four books!
This book may not be for everyone. The men, especially hero Ryan and his father Jim, are asses more often than not, but it's who they are and this is important in the storytelling. Their characters grow and this is rewarding for the reader. Alex, the heroine and Ruby, Jim's wife and Ryan's stepmother, see their own growth and Ruby is, by far, my favorite character in the book.
One thing I was uncomfortable with and wondered how important it was to the story was the drug use.
