Ride hard isn't your usual MC book. The Ravens are helping women who have been victims of abuse. Haven and Cora belong in that category, but they are currently residing at the club. She has escaped from her abusive past and she has made a list of things she wants to do and Dare is the man to help her with that. Dare is the president of the Ravens who almost made me stop reading the book when he came really close to doing something "intimate" with another member of the club. He was forgiven though since nothing happened and it was in the second chapter.
I went ahead and the read the blurbs for the next two book and I got to say that the foundation for both books was set in Ride hard and now I will have to wait for them to be released which is not nice. I am sure I will like both of them and I want to get to know these characters. Thankfully the next book is releasing next month so the wait won't be so long.
I liked the pace of this book. I didn't feel like it was too slow or too fast. The flow was also good and I had a very enjoyable time reading Ride hard. I liked Haven's character, but for me, Dare wasn't the ideal book boyfriend. Ride hard is the very good beginning for a new series. It gave us an idea of the how the club operates, the rules of it and the people who belong to the club. It was a good story and I am hoping for an even better sequel. I enjoyed reading this book and I hope you will also enjoy it as much as I did.
Her two main characters Dare and Haven will have you falling in love. Haven is on the run from her past, an abusive relationship with her father, a man who isn't ready to let her 'go' and is now tracking her. She ends up in the best place she can, the Raven Riders compound and with their mission to protect the 'innocent' she finds herself safe for the first time in her life, unfortunately it can never be quite that easy. Dare is Raven Riders President and he takes their role seriously, the appearance of Heaven at his club peeks his interest and Haven makes him want something that he hasn't wanted since losing his mother and brother, to let down his walls and let someone in.
I loved the relationship between these two. It's full of passion and struggle. Watching them fight their growing attractions because neither feels good enough for the other can be sad at times, but we all know Laura Kaye isn't going to leave us crying in our beers and she gives up a beautiful story with our craved for HEA. Watching this couple grow, Dare coming to know that he can be more than the President of the Club, that he still has a heart to give, watching Haven become confident in who she is on her own and grow into a strong woman, is inspiring.
The secondary characters will have you craving more, I can't wait for each book and I am hoping it will be a nice long series similar to Hard Ink. The storyline will have you turning ALL the pages in one sitting because you can't put the book down! I love that our Hard Ink family make an appearance, it was so hard (no pun intended) to leave the Hard Ink crew behind. I really grew to love them and their stories. I was so happy that they made an appearance and I don't think this is even the last time we will see them, they may not make huge role appearances but I am hopeful they are there and we get peeks into their lives through out the entire series. The Raven Riders have a similar vibe to her Hard Ink men only more raw. If you liked Hard Ink you will love these guys but don't worry that you are getting more of the same these guys are different 'beasts'! Their stories are just as touching though...if not perhaps a little more.
~ HAPPY READING ~
They live and ride by their own rules.
These are the Raven Riders...</b>
This phrase encomposses everything that the Raven Riders stand for. This MC is as different as they are the same in comparison to other MC romances. They too follow they're own rules but they do it for the good of their community. The freshness of the characters and storyline made Ride Hard such a pleasure to read.
Dare Kenyon is such a great leader. He strives to steer his brothers away from the one percenter mentality that originated with the club and uses their sources to help those in need. They're good men and Dare is one of he best of them. It all becomes apparent when Haven Randall and best friend, Cora Campbell, are brought back to the clubhouse after being rescued while on the run from Haven's treacherous father.
After living such a sheltered life under the control of her father, life with the Raven Riders opens up so many possibilites and the poor thing is like a fish out of water. If it wasn't for her amazing, fun-loving and supportive best friend she'd have been lost. Cora is a true friend and one Haven is really lucky to have.
This was a wonderful start to what looks to be a great series!
