The top on this thing pivots firmly, so it stays where it's supposed to stay. The spring-loaded jaws are just lightly spring loaded, so they're not constantly in your way. The extendable handle has ball detents like an adjustable height cane, or crutches, or something of that nature (spring-loaded ball end on one piece, holes drilled in the other piece) - so it stays positively where you set it. The jaws on this are cut well so they grab positively. The handle at the end is quite sturdy, as is the rest of the construction. Just holding this in your hand, you know that it's not some cheap piece. I'm going to buy the smaller version of this tool just so I have the smaller one when I need it; the smaller size is really the more universal model, but I had an odd case to deal with. I can wholeheartedly recommend this tool. Between the adjustable length and superior construction, this is definitely worth the extra few bucks over the cheaper one - especially when you consider that the stuff you're going to work on with this is stuff that you'll probably only get one chance to do "the easy way". :)

The jaws open wide enough to fit over the bigger nuts 1.5-2.5" size often found on European fixtures, but the narrow jaw blade is thin enough to fit into tight spaces surrounding the nut. Well made tool.

This old-school tool has been kicking around my toolbox for years. I've only needed it a handful of times, but I'm always glad to have it. I use this to get to those hard-to-reach screws that are holding the hot and cold water faucets down under the sink, as well as the nuts holding the hot and cold water mains to the faucet itself. It's indespensible, if you ask me. They have a new one out there, but this is a good all-purpose model that self-grips any size bolt or screw or what-have-you. I recommend it!!!

Had to replace faucet on our pedestal sink. Could not reach the large nuts holding the widespread faucet and handles in place. Tried everything. Looked at local places for a large basin wrench, but could only find the small ones.

This worked like a charm. Had the faucets off in a matter of minutes. Also needed it to put the new ones on.

Nice large capacity. Worked with no issue on the 1 3/8 nuts I needed to remove/replace.

I needed to replace two sets of old leaking bathroom faucets. They were some 40 years old and the big fastening nuts below were rusty. Removing the old faucets was a tough job. The smaller basin wrenches that I could get in local stores were too small. So, I got this bigger Ridgid basin wrench. Its jaws could just fit into the tight space. I was amazed to find that the teeth could bite so well onto the nut that I could apply a lot of torque without slipping. After applying a bit of WD-40 on the rusty nuts, and with the help of a 18" steel pipe added onto the T bar at the end of the wrench to increase the torque, I managed to loosen the nuts. Without this wrench, I would have to hire a professional plumber for the job.

I had to change three deck-mounted bathroom faucets in a townhome. The commonly available smaller basin wrench is too small and could not get a grip on the large nuts on the underside of the marbled vanity tops. This larger tool allowed me to easily loosen the three oversized nuts under each basin.

This larger-sized tool is not readily available in the local big box or hardware stores so I was pleased to have it delivered so quickly. Thank you Amazon.

There are other basin wrenches for sale on Amazon, but this one is very sturdily built and looks like it will last a lifetime. The nut I needed to tighten was close to 1-1/4 inches and in a very confined space, but I was able to maneuver this wrench in place and tighten the nut with little effort.

This wrench is not something you would normally use every day. BUT, when you need it, you've got it. Sometimes it comes in handy to get at nuts, nipples, whatever you can't get with a regular pipe wrench or channellocks. I bought this because it's my "policy" to buy a tool per month to increase my ability to perform tougher tasks. This wrench is not the only basin wrench you need, the standard sized wrench is good for faucet nuts or connector. I have used a "cheater" such as a 14" pipe wrench on the handle, to add leverage to remove very stubborn or seized up connections, and this tubular handle is pretty strong and will slowly twist before it fails.
